I'm sure you want an original and hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning it, but it would be easier to bypass that PSU and the conversion circuitry inside the Model I and patch in a modern PSU.

Hi - thanks for the reply.
You are right on both counts - I do want an original supply but can see that its tempting to to bypass the strange mix of DC and AC voltages sourced from the original. Particularly as they seem so hard to find.
