Hey Gang ;)

Have noticed there are many aussie amibayers but havent seen any threads indicating professional repairs being undertaken here in the land of Oz.
I understand there are several legendary long-term repairers based in the UK & Europe so surely theres got to be someone down under !!!???

The most professional bloke here was 'space taxi '' based in Melbournes CBD but he is no longer fixing/servicing anything in vintage since late last year (2013).
I really think there is a niche here for someone to go full pro in Victoria or NSW based on all the sales & community interest i have seen on the internet :)
There are people who are handy with the iron & can perform easy tasks & full capacitor changes, but the real challenging area is sourcing the parts from overseas, especially things like cpu's, psu's, sid, vic & PLA chips. I also read about things being done overseas like ceramic capacitor replacements for the amigas etc.
I have many vintages which need repairing & due to high packaging costs cannot afford to send them all overseas for repairs.....things like the TED chips on the 16's/plus4 range are way too delicate for such a world mission:(. There are so many considerations to include them all here, but if someone in OZ is a fully qualified/competent all-round repairer who can source parts i am sure there would be many Australians here who would be very interested :D:nod:

Yeah no doubt this guy is a pro & his website features are top quality :D Its a shame he is not an amibayer as i would have referred him to my ami-oracle thread ""a500 with Black Screen Problem".

AJK have you had any trade with this guy and can you vouch for him as being an honest & fair repairer who follows through with the transaction ?:readit:

And shipping to/from NZ/Australia is normally very reasonable. In a lot of cases cheaper than sending things from one side of Australia to the other! :)

@Retromania76

I haven't personally, no, but you can find him on amiga.org as "Castellen" in many hardware repair related threads. I've never seen anyone complaining :)

Thanks Astral/Ajk :)

I will check out amiga.org at a later date. I suppose it wont be against the Amibay Rules if i were to also join that site provided i do not take away too much business from this site LOL:boing::bounceBoingBall::Commodore:

I will still wait around as im sure there are still others out there who havent come forward :o:?

I can vouch for Anthony, he's a great guy fair prices, great work and he will updates you on progress all the time. He fixed two dead A3000's, an A4000 and a Warp Engine, all fixed 100% working, highly recommend him

The man's a legend and that's not just because I have a beer with him occassionally either ;-) Last work he done for me was recap 9 x A4000 MBs and 4 x A3640s - He's thorough and precise. I actually thought he did have an account on here but perhaps he uses it just to get the odd thing he needs without the noise ;-) But yes, contact him via his web site and all will be well, no need to join another etc

I really appreciate your input guys

I will contact him soon via his website & hope he can also recap/fix other 8-bit cbm's.

I am pretty sure with his experience that he can perform mods & hopefully the timing fixes for the accelerator cards if & when required.

I am also very interested in purchasing or slowly building an a4000 tower medium to high-end with dual-layer DVD & solid state hard drives :D:cool:

Have contacted Anthony & he will be in NZ till September before heading off to Antarctica for over one year to work...Lucky Guy:)

I have agreed to purchase a faulty a4000 mainboard for him to repair but it must be before September, 2014. Please refer to my Wanted "a4000 MB w/optional mid to high end card' post.
Please let me know if anyone here can help;)

I too can vouch for Anthony Hoffman (NZ). I am from Australia and had my two Amiga 600 boards serviced recently.
Anthony did an excellent job in repairing them, gave me progress reports along the way, and shipped them back to me promptly.
