I collected this hardware specifically for a tualatin-based retroPC (for win98 games ofcoure  ) but now it's not needed since it's spare...

The set consists of:

a.ASUS TUSL2-C motherboard with i815 chipset and 2x256ΜΒ matched 133mhz ram sticks (backplate also available, drivers/bios/manuals available HERE )
b. cpu Pentium III tualatin , 1.4ghz with 512kb cache and 133mhz FSB , with a copper heatsink ;)
c. vga Creative GeForce4200ti 64MB/AGP8x
d. sound card Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (SB0060)
e. lan card 10/100mbps intel chipset

classic setup and can't really get anything better for a tualatin system IMHO... I also checked the system with memtest , did 2 complete memory cycles (though it was used and fine, just to be extra sure)

Price is 50eur for the lot, paypal payment.

Which era of gaming would you recommend it for?

(not including DOS or DOSBoX) I would say this is a deliious system for 98 - 2003 =)

Those years are a bit of a blur for me :ninja: Which games defined that period? Jedi Knight 2 probably?

Asking because I'm considering whether I need this or not :D

For me:
Baulders Gate 1 & 2
Blood 2 : The Choosen
Call of Duty 1 & 2
Command & Conquer Series (Red Alert 2 my fav! - I always played Russia!)
Counter Strike
Dark Reign
Dune 2000
Dungeon Keeper 2
Ghost Recon 1 / 2 and 3
Jedi Knight II Outkast
StarCraft
Starwars Force Commander
Quake 3 Arena
Unreal
Unreal Tornament : Tac Ops
Unreal Tornament : Team Fortress
Unreal Tornament
Warcraft : Humans Vs Orks
Warcraft 2
Warcraft 3
Oh the list goes on and on.... so many great games!

This system is also powerfull enough to emulate the following
PSx
MegaDrive / MCD & 32x
PCE / TG16
Spectrum
C64
Amiga
Atari ST
As well as quite a few others!

Once can use DOSBox (and DOG) with it under Win98 / XP install or configure a pure DOS partition and then you have a wealth of DOS games!

Thanks

I've decided I don't need it, because it would be overkill for my use. All the best with your sale, my friend :)

well, I just used it to run win9x games, anything that needed directx/opengl and is buggy or does not run correctly on new systems due to OS or gpu drivers.
Zetr0's examples are great, I can also add the following favorites of mine:
Tomraider 1-4 , Entomorph , Noone Lives Forever
Silver , Incoming , Ultima 9 , Croc , Thief , Dungeon Keeper
Jedi Knight 2 (yep :D) , Deathtrap Dungeon , Montezuma's Return
MDK , Lands of Lore 2-3 , Wizards & Warriors, Sin , Diablo 1-2 , Drakan

every win9x basically without having to worry about compatibillity issues, that was the paln ;)
one could even use a voodoo3 or add a voodoo2 in order to have glide stuff too
