I used to love this game back in the day.

I had a hard disk installed so I had no disk swaps, but the waiting for the aliens to make their move was insane.

I'm trying the whdload version under emulation but I noticed the geoscape clock seems to run fast - I always remember 5secs meant 1sec = 5sec...
Is this a timing problem or is my memory bad?

I've probably still got the original hard disk install on my disk, so I will try that when I get a chance.

Hiyas Joe,

If you want the clock in UFO to be acurate to the original A1200 AGA version you will need to specifiy exact cycle timing in the WinUAE emulator.

problem solved ;)

Thanks this works. :)

Only problem is I end up stuck with the original A1200 speed which is awful slow. I can't believe they've tied the clock to the processor speed.

However after playing it again I realised the time doesn't elapse on the other screens so it's still perfectly playable on faster machine.

Only problem is that apparently there's a bug which stops you completing the game :picard

@Joe

hmmm, I am not so sure about that, I have played UFO on many levels and have beaten the game numerious times - even on super human (as a clue its actualy a game of numbers ;) )

I found the Amiga AGA version without any problems, the PC version had some issues with some hardware - however its work-around-able - the only version that I know that has some horrendius - will crash if you try to take a 3 teir UFO (4 level high) is on the PSx - which is a damn shame as the back-ground music for that version is truly awesome!

I often have the PSx UFO sound track playing in the back ground when playing on DOSBox or the Amiga - infact back in the day I would have the CD audio tracks playing via my amiga while actually playing the game on it. =)

Ah,

That is good news :D

I prefer the amiga AGA music myself as that's what I always remember. I have listened to the PSX music and I admit it's great though. And you get music during the crash site bits as well.

I've just started playing this for the first time !!

i remember the adverts in magazines but i never knew anyone who had it...

my WHDload version flickers on the mission bits but after a min or so its okay. loading slaves i guess?

i dont use the whdload version,it dont work right for me.(loading and on the saves)

i had to install the original disk to hdd for it to work ive played both the ecs version and the aga,i really like this game.

Sids involved eh?

Very interesting!

While I would love a new itteration of the old game (right down to the isometric look) - I am not opposed to something new - I hope the original developers ( Julian / Nick Gallop ) are mentioned somewhere =)
