I am very tempted to buy one of these if it doesn't cost body parts :D

I'm waiting to see the final price but it seems quite interesting
Personally I have a vectrex in the 'batcave'

Kickstarter News just in and it going start in 3RD November !

Kickstarter already happening and 12 days ago and they made quarter of millions already! WOW

May I ask...what is the point of a Vectrex without the vector CRT that made it a Vectrex?

Isn't the heart of the Vectrex the unique CRT display experience? Is that not what it is all about and why people want it?

I'd probably buy it for my desk. Maybe an oled/qled screen with implemented scanlines, would that work?

Fun fact: I remember the sound being pretty loud on the original, my mom would always tell me to turn down the volume! :D

For your desk? Size wise, and without the weight of a glass vector CRT this Vectrex Mini will not make a good paperweight.
Stiff breeze will tip it over. :-)

I almost backed it... almost. But it's just a tad too small for me - needed to be about 50% bigger then I'd have definitely gone for one.

@RichyV - so the lack of a true vector CRT was not the primary put-off?

To me, this thing is like a car without the wheels. What's the point?
Another form over function exercise in emulated ultra-reprocessed nostalgia.

After the ongoing wait (6.5yrs) for my A1200 CD32 Special Ed case and key caps, I felt fed up with the whole crowd funding thing.
But this project brought me back (I have an OG Vectrex hanging on), only for another fcuk up this time by Kickstarter's website.
I got allocated a Founders Edition (v.good price) only for the website to 'buffer face' on the payment.
So it all fell through and by the time I had waited, also the Early Backers ones had all sold out.
With all the success they have had (and extra profit) I was hoping they would honour this screwup, which was no fault of mine....

@Higgy, in my humble opinion, they did you a favour. Don't fight it.

Between the software emulation tank-mouse equipped AIZOO and this CRT-less Shrinkedtrex, I am making a proclamation.

Today, November 21st, 2025 retro-nostalgia money grabs have JUMPED THE SHARK!

Let these cherished beloved Ghost Brands rest you money grabbers.

@YouKnowWho

Check your blood pressure at the door ... just sayin :)

Some would argue that they are just bringing older machines into the 21st century in a modern format. Who's to say that is a right thing or wrong. Let those who wish to, buy such machines and enjoy them.

You should bear in mind that you did similar in purchasing a Mister, thus recreating a retro machine in the guise of the A500 using modern hardware.

That old proverbial idiom of the pot calling the kettle black springs to mind ...

@miggymad, you overestimate my power greatly Sir. While I appreciate it, I only have control of my opinion and wallet, not yours or that of anyone else. I find these devices to be weak. A1200 software emulation? Vectrex without CRT? Just calling it like it is. However, regardless of my opinion, you are free to waste your money on them. :-)

As for my MISTer, I have argued before, and I believe 100% correctly, that MISTer DE10 Nano is a far superior device in terms of emulating retro hardware as it is a accurate FPGA based hardware reproduction with all the modern conveniences. Vastly better than software emulation of the ("new" re-A500 Mini) A1200 with just full size keyboard and oh, by the way...Vectrex emulation is included in the MISTer. All I have to do is to plug it into a nice AMOLED screen of my choice and I don't have to Mini my way through my emulated experience for the pleasure. And all these machines are housed inside my beautiful Amiga case. Perfection! I will take a Pepsi challenge with the MISTer on hardware merrit and device quality against these nostalgia money grabs any day. :-)
