its one of those medium size cabinets, i was wondering if its possible to cramp a total modern gamer computer into it and manage to make its turbo led display show the cpu speed, anyone tried that here?

CPU speed display is normally set through jumpers on the back of the display so you can make it show anything you want with nothing inside the case but a PSU :-)

I do have one already, but power supply is bad and the dallas is dead,
and i had been interested in a full strong second 486 that can run windows 98 smooth enough for 3dfx games.

You would be better off with at least a Pentium II for Windows 98 and 3DFX games.

If you really want to use the case why not get a mini-ITX motherboard so you don't have to worry about internal space?

Agree with Harrison, 486 would be to slow, A pentium 233MMX would be the lower limit as this poor little cpu has to feed the voodoo 3dfx and your games would be CPU limited..

If you want 100% dos/win98 3DFX compatibility but enough power for more demanding games (day of the tentacle for example locks up on 100mhz FSB) then go for a PII or PIII with a 66mhz FSB with a voodoo fitted. should do all dos games and 3DFX stuff no issues.

save on cash and get a voodoo banshee or Voodoo 3 AGP, they're pretty common and run most games no issues (played unreal tournament on one for a year or so before upgrading to a VooDoo 3 for quake 3 multiplayer fun)

But can i run games on it at full speed?

There has been that type of computer for sale on here?
with the day of the tentacle sample.
