What's happening over at Amibay?

Lol, sorry I know I said that I'd spawned enough new threads today, but I couldn't help myself.

But wow, huge kudos to the team who develop, maintain and run this site!

When I came aboard back in 2008 "it was all manual". There was no "declare interest" button, no nothing. I recently did the Freeway CP transaction with DjCook (wonder what that handle means, a DJ'ing Chef?). Not only was he a good seller, but the site really helped the process along with sales automation.

I've been both a seller and a (mostly) a buyer on this site, and as a buyer the site has come a long way! I'm not going to burden this thread with ideas for how to improve the site, there's a dedicated section for that.

I think rather this thread can serve as a reminder to the good folks who run this site how far it's come since it's inception, problems and good times. And for the oldies to tell each other and the new ones how much harder life was in the old days.

But what's nicer is to still see "oldies" on the site who remember how it was and what it's become.

The site in its current form is all down to @comraider. He genuinely pulled amibay out of trouble with us pleading with the previous chap to do well,,,, Anything for years and we ain’t exaggerating. Years…

@comraider pulled off a miracle in just days/weeks. Thank you.

Although all the mods and admins put in a lot of spare time to help the running of amibay it’s 95% less work now all due to @comraider’s automation behind the scenes.


If i could single out 1 person just for his dedication alone never mind ALL the time he’s spent over the many years here everyday is @davideo an absolute legend without @davideo when amibay was going through it’s dark patch a couple of years ago amibay wouldn’t be here today.

I will admit that at times I felt like I was alone but I knew that some of the stalwarts where helping in the background.

I was lucky in that I had time to spare to keep AmiBay alive.

@comraider has been a welcome breath of fresh air as a Dev
