I happen to come across an original Commodore Amiga OS 3.1 set which seemed a bit unusual. I've seen numerous Amiga Technologies / Amiga International 3.1 manuals and disks but never like these. The manual is dated 1993 and the disks are black instead of blue which you normally see.

Anyone has any thoughts about this?

There were licensed resellers who used different Disks but there are also some eBay sellers selling pirate copies, so beware before you shell out your hard earned cash lol

Thanks for the advice Steve, but I got this set with an A1200 I purchased a while back. I know about the different colors of original disks but they all seem to be related to Amiga Technologies / International. And besides that the fronts of the manuals are totally different to the ones you normally see. E.g. like this:

Wow, I've never seen that set before - thanks for sharing the pic. Must be pretty rare?

Anyone else have this?

I have a big box version like this but it is Amiga Technologies white box version.

During 1994, Villagetronic had a licence to manufacture/distribute Workbench 3.1 whilst the remnants of Commodore were being sold off by the official liquidator. This was before Escom re-manufactured 3.1 and bundled with its A1200/A4000T.

I've seen that in a Tony's auction a couple of months ago. :D

Thanks for the info guys. I got called away so I couldn't respond earlier.

Anyway, these are not as common as the Escom ones but nothing special I guess.

I'll probably flog it since I've got too much little stuff lying around taking up lots of space... :p

Well, I know someone with a want ad on here for something like this, if you are interested in selling :)

@ tokyoracer: The manual says Copyright 1993 by Commodore Electronics Limited.
...
Coverdesign and Print by Village Tronic (Germany)

It was the 1993 date what puzzled me most as I always assumed it was 1994.

I have one just like this that I bought in 1994. Yes VillageTronic.

Kickstart 3.1 ROMs also have a copyright date of 1993. I guess the big C= were planning on retailing AmigaOS 3.1 just as they were going into liquidation.
