Mine are in this order (I plead insanity):

3DO
Saturn
32X
Atari
DOS
GBA
SNES

And yes, I left the PSX port out because it sucks

It it an oversight or editorial reasons to why amiga porting efforts are not included in the list?

Is it because they are not official commercial ports?

Just asking :)

Ported....

Ported....

I would say my favorite graphics-wise is the Atari Jaguar. It looked as good as the original and had most of the levels as well. This is followed closely by the 3D0 version as it was good, and the music was pretty darn awesome. Aside from that I never played the PS1 version. SNES was pretty crap in my opinion, although impressive for the machine.

I voted DOS because the original was still the best. All ports at the time were inferior to the original. However on a fast enough Amiga the unofficial port did run very nicely.

DOS - port?!

it was written for DOS you sausage. You could however argue a case for DOOM95 as that was officially supported and could use the DOS wads. Obviously Doom95 made it somewhat easier to setup network games (over IPX baby!) >>

*spies Kinnie - for the wont of a good inet connection.... the Frag-festing would be legendary!

-------

I have to say that all the above listed mainly suck because the interface is all wrong.

DOOM was ment to be played Keyboard and Mouse and NOT by Joypad things... there for platforms and fightem'ups!

DOOM has been officially ported to other machines and here are a couple you didn't mention -

Mac OS
Acorn RISC OS
PSX
N64
XBOX (collectors Edition of DOOM 3 had The Ultimate Doom and DOOM 2 + new levels)

And surprisingly the well known (lol) Tapwave Zodiac 2

Tapwave_Zodiac2_640.jpg

heres a nice handy Wiki with all the DooM port knowledged a growing gamer needs

Now with the knowledge of the above, I think I will happly plumb for DOOM95 =D

who's up for a bit of IPX networking Gamage?

(before you ask yes the protocoll is installed on my network =D)

I knew that! just making it all easier

Mac OS
Acorn RISC OS
PSX
N64
XBOX (collectors Edition of DOOM 3 had The Ultimate Doom and DOOM 2 + new levels)
With good reason, here is why:

Mac OS - not a console (DOS is included for purists)
RISC- again, not a console
PSX- It sucked!
N64-I love DOOM64, but it wasn't a port of DOOM 2
XBOX- It was released YEARS after the others, not a true official port, a gimmick

To explain my choices:
3D0- Unmodified sprites, 3d view of sprites (most just have the front) Sick soundtrack
Saturn- Better sound than PSX, control scheme better, Fanboy of saturn
32x-Better sound than Atari, better res than SNES and all textures included
Atari-Close to PC, but no soundtrack/messed up pitches
DOS- DOS SUCKS
GBA-censored
SNES-censored, no ceiling/floor textures, poor rendering

Unfortunately, Doom always made me very motion sick so I could never play it. :(

I think you were joking about something but I don't get it. :D Maybe I'm just being a blond again. :p

The early "3D" games, like Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, etc, would make me sick almost immediately. I still get motion sick with certain games on the new consoles, but it's not nearly as bad as it was with the low resolution, low frame-rate 3D games of the past.

Happy Holidays!

I'm confused.

I have a 3DO, and on the 3DO forums I'm in, Doom is generally considered one of the worst 3DO games and supposedly one of the worst Doom ports???

I'm going to have to try it now.

My favorite Doom port was always Redneck Rampage! Oh, that's not what you meant? :)

Actually, it is much better than other console ports:
Awesome soundtrack
Has ALL sprite views (PSX, SNES and 32x)
Good audio
Nice resolution

The criticism
By default, runs in small screen
Choppy if you blow screen up
