For various reasons I have a small collection of 3DLabs Wildcat VP graphics cards. These work in AGP 8x/4x slots, they do not need AGP Pro slots. I wondered if anyone here might be interested; they are 3D workstation cards. I have the following:
Wildcat VP760, 64mb card £sold elsewhere
Wildcat VP870, 128mb, faster model - I may have two of these £withdrawn
Wildcat VP990 Pro 512mb and faster again £withdrawn
Willing to ship anywhere if you are willing to pay, I'm in the UK. Paypal gift.
Drivers available from 3dlabs.com legacy site. The cards are directx8.1 compliant if that matters - not too bad for games and the drivers contain optimised settings for various packages including various games. They give beautiful clear quality even on the desktop compared to consumer cards.
Probably best system for these is a late P3, a P4 or a later Athlon.
The VP990 Pro is probably the most interesting - all that memory - but it is a pain to get working in my experience. The drivers for that one are for XP and 2000 only [the others can be used in 98 as well] but afaik they are incompatible with the later service packs. So one minute all seems fine, you install the SPs, reboot and then it crashes when you reach the desktop. It's also not compatible with the AMD751 chipset.
edit - seems like the process of writing that prompted me to build a damn pc to get the vp990pro working. and golly, after being such a pita, it really does work. finally. in case anyone's interested it scores about 8000 in 3dmark2001se so i reckon its around mx440 level for games. anyhow, now the blasted flagship model works, i'm keeping these a bit longer.
