Well, even with Kinnies Apollo 060 freshly installed browsing the web is a bit of a slow process but hey, it works!

Never thought I'd be browsing the web with an Amiga (y)

Now all I've got to do is figure out how to get the 060, PSU and CD drive in the same tower at the same time.

Just thought I'd share :)

@ SJBUK

What graphics are you running? - An 060 with Voodoo running @ 24Bit should be pretty slick tbh!

Glad to hear the journey didn't Fubar her! - Enjoy! (y)

I've had my Amiga online too.
However, it's a tad slow on a 68040 with no graphics card (so just the standard Amiga built in graphics)
Getting stuff downloaded from Aminet and/or WHDownload is quick enough though.

It also depends on your copper to bits alchemy.

@kin - aye, arrived safe and sound, just don't fit in the case!

Am using a Voodoo 3, amazing to see 24 bit hi-res coming out of an A1200 :)

*cough*

I have a case here that it would fit in, but it's a bit of a scabby old thing to look at, but complete. Floppy & PSU in it too. :|

Re: Woohooo, finally have an Amiga online!

I had my A4000 online years ago via an external dialup modem. Around 1998 I think. Not had that online since then!

At the time it was really cool seeing the Amiga online and at the time browsers were quite basic so most sites loaded fine and about the same speed as on a PC or Mac.

More recently I have got my A1200 online via a PCMCIA NIC connected to my LAN a couple of years ago. It was a bit fiddly getting it to work and I can't remember what I did to make it work. Since then I've lost that configuration because of using a different HD in the system and playing around with different WB installs. Worked OK though on broadband. Browsers were all quite bad at rendering modern websites though and it ran out of memory trying to load a few! (I did only have a 4meg fast ram expansion in the A1200 at the time though).

Really must give it another try at some point.

Re: Woohooo, finally have an Amiga online!

I have been using my A1200 online since late 1997. This was the first computer that i got online with as i didnt own a PC till at least the year 2000. I have fond memories of talking to people on irc and icq and having them not believe that i was using an Amiga. Most of them didnt know what an Amiga was, or those that did know what an Amiga was, didnt think it was possible to chat online with one. I also did a fair bit of mp3 downloading using the Amiga equivalent to Napster called Amster all those many years ago.
