Hey guys,

Got something really grinding on me and google hasn't helped in the slightest. I've recently acquired two generic, non standard mice with some amigas I purchased from two completely separate sellers - the two mice are identical. They are slimmer at the left/right buttons end, so a slight triangular shape to them rather than rectangle/square.

Anyway, here's the super oddity - the ends of them are not 9-pin female, they're 9-pin MALE! This seems extremely odd for any type of computer / device, let alone amigas - not even google talks of any platform that ever existed which had female mouse sockets and required male-pinned mice...

What on earth could these mice have been for??!?

P.S. I did get back to both sellers asking what they were for, neither of which had any idea (!!) they just chose to throw them in from their hoard pile.

possibly Apple?

(older (II/III/C/IIGS/Lisa) Apple serial ports are inverse (female) to PC (and others) ones)

Macintosh Plus mice were like that but they didn't have the shape you mentioned.

I supposed 3rd party mice for the Mac Plus.

Got a photo ?

Bingo!!!! We've hit the jackpot.

Thank you very much for solving the mystery, and all else who chimed in.

Now to throw 'em in the bin. Although I wonder, what are the chances of them working on an Amiga if I get myself a gender changer adapter (female on both ends)?

There quite a few Amstrad fans down in Australia. I'm sure one of them would be happy to take them from you. Don't throw them out.

Bryce.
