X1000 launch software titles?

First, let me say that I am ASKING about them, not announcing anything about them :cool:

It would seem to me that a system like the X1000 will immediately give its users hours upon hours of "things to do" with the current OS and other software currently available, but here's what I think...

Wouldn't a few new choice apps (optimized to take full advantage of the new hardware) REALLY help A-EON Technology market their new computer? I have been reading articles, watching videos, and following forums that only seem to focused on the hardware. I do realize that OS 4.x is still going through a fine tuning process in order produce the traditional stability of the OS, but eventually I would think that the very next step in the success of the product would be to have software titles that are as ground breaking as the hardware is. I have not seen or heard of a single one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking at the X1000 with my eyes popping out like everyone else :wooha:, but I'm really hoping that developers can "Keep the party going" with some killer new software titles, games, music and business apps, emulators, you get what I mean. I know that just the release of the hardware alone is going to mean there will not only be a greater interest in the new Amiga computer, but it will also mean there will be renewed interest in the platform which in turn helps support everyone because the more users there are, the more demand there will be and the more demand there is, the more support there will be. That includes classic systems as well. I see that renewed interest having a ripple effect within the entire spectrum. It's the snowball effect, growing larger the more it rolls. The hardware is here, (well, soon it seems) the software needs to be soon after. Ya think or no? ;)

My most personal guess is that Timberwolf (Firefox) will be released at the same time as X1000.
But that's not really a ground breaking software... still nice to have though :)
 
now here is a post about the x1000 and OS4+ that i do agree with:o

my views on this machine are well known, but this is correct the whole system needs to give the users something new, new apps, new games, some intergration with modern computing and then maybe things could start to change.

but what you are going to get is a tweeked OS4 and that's it, a real shame:(

True that it is not ground breaking, but it will definitely have an impact on the end user experience, and isn't "end user experience" truly an iconic and fundamental Amiga theme? I can say personally that it was and still is for me.

Without descent and modern software, X1000 will unfortunately fail. Sure Timberwolf is one step forwards, but X1000 needs an Office Suite badly.
 
I have to agree with Phantom. Something like openoffice is badly needed...and probably a descent game too :)
 
Office suite?? Forgive me for asking but who on earth will pay double price for a computer to run an office suite?

I'm talking ordinary users here not retro-enthusiasts (like myself).

Without a killer feature or a killer application the X1000 will never be marketable for the mainstream, period. And let's face it, computing have seen only a few examples of killer products in recent years, ipod was one, and maybe social networks can be mentioned.

So for the killer criterion to be fulfilled, this particular computer/platform/appliance (whatever) has to be able to carry out a task that is either a) no other computer/platform/appliance can do or b) can do it significantly better for the same price. The task has to be something that average people need (i.e. there is a proper market).

In short you need a quantum leap and THEN you still need brilliant marketing.(Apple II pulled this off first) The chances this happening with the X1000 are slim to say the least.

I agree. We don't need an office suite. What we need is some kind of half biological half machine add on AI expansion for X1000 named T1000.

I think some sort of productivity software needs to be on there. I would want some sort of Paint application and also a WP / DTP appliction but I also agree that these things aren't the "killer app" that will make this machine succeed - it will need to do some things (for me anyway) that take the hassle out of doing them elsewhere.

I'm thinking for instance - native Emulation. If the machine can "just run" Amiga games (WHDLoad for instance - or ADF images that you can "mount" and are clickable - like a Daemon Tools interface) straight out of the box then I think I would buy one based on that alone. Do you know what I mean? Just running Amiga software without being in a VM or through an obvious emulator?

Then there is the "modern" computing thing. Add in a decent web browser and a few modern gaming titles and then it could work.

Or just forget all that - put Angry Birds on it - and off we go LOL

Just checked the european store of amigakit and 4.1 for classics is available for sale. Are you sure you checked right mate?
 
Ah, yeah the software is there but I was looking for the X1000 machine :)

I would like to see a proper Creative productivity suit of applications for the machine

Centering around - music, art, webdesign and perhaps a programming suit (say c / c++ or even Java)

DTP's are great and can double as a wysiwyg word processing program - it wouldn't be hard to add Java VM to the OS and with that a whole slew of applications (including an open office) would be at the press of a download button

IMHO Java should of been an inbuilt feature of OS4.1 - why its not is beyond me! crikey a 170Mhz PPC would more than capable for most desktop apps - including VOIP

Anyway I would of liked to of seen a Hyperion suit of apps to include a simple - but effect website / page designer - based around HTML 4.0 and with the option to buy an upgrade for 5.0... perhaps some flash building tools

essentially anything that can cater to the creative, the content developer - thats what the system should of been aimed at -

I feel that they are missing the boat a lot with this product.... even at the premium they are looking for the machine - they could of easily added value to the product with very little (if any at all) cost to them.
 
Even classic Amigas had Final Writer, Pagestream, Pagesetter and Wordworth, all of which were worthy WYSIWYG programs. I wrote up my ONC assignment on an A600 using Final Writer.

This new machine needs something like Illustrator to take things to a new level; however, Adobe have that market sewn up, pretty much.
 
Java Would be great, I already got a lot of Java Apps and Games
A decent Text come document creator is a must as is a decent Browser
then its just light, sound and a programming language or 2

oh and Printer/scanner support
