Hello there my fellow AmiBayers

Some of you know that I do have strange collecting habits, those that know me well also know that its probably wise to let the authorities deal with my predication of OCD collection.

So I thought some of you would like to see (or be bored to death) by this collection I have amassed thanks to my good friend Gary (Imnogeek) and a fair few years of collecting.

So here is most of the collection, please note that a couple of items have not been included - namely the Pentium P8 CPU's and a couple of others that are buried in another box at the back of my storage.

This is one of my favourite pieces, at about the size of a dime, or a 20 pence piece, this is a wonderfull looking purple ceramic and gold CPU,

The above + Doom = Good Times indeed - please note the Socket 1 version of the pentium P75 =)

I actually remember my first Star Craft experience was on a P75 - what a blast that was.

Some solid gaming was had with this CPU! from M$ Flight to Starwars Force Commander - Good days indeed

This was the entry level for the emerging Quakers out there

The Series 2 saw a massive change to Super Socket 7 and eventually 3D Now! technology

While this CPU was made way after the events, this particular Processor was one of the first CPU's designed by AMD outside of their iNTEL license - in fact the court had ordered iNTEL to supply AMD with the complete 386 core - which iNTEL was bound by contractual law to provide - needless to say - AMD redeveloped the core and made the Am386DX30 and the above the Am386DX40 - this chips is faster than Intel's 486SX 25!

For completeness =)

A range of Cyrix CPU's - I have my first memories of playing Unreal Tournament on the MII 333 - so much so later that year I bought an AMD Athlon 700 ;)

A little piece of history here, with Old Blues new blue thats now old blue =)

Have you noticed that the market has adopted a PR or P rating instead of direct claim of frequency ?

the classic DX4-100 a main stay for many!

Ahh the ST range of x86 CPU's - I remember spanking the crap out of Rise of the Triad with the Elonx PC (ST166Mhz) my god it was fast for the time - admitedly I should of been compiling code - but what better way to test it eh?

A little more Intel to close post with

So that's a small introduction to my CPU collection, when get to the back of the storage - I shall bore you more with the Product Recalled Pentium 60 and the Whoppingly huge P8, I will also show you some non - x86 CPU's just to mix it up a bit.

Thanks for reading.

Nice.

I'll bring you my old 160mhz PPC and 240mhz PPC chips from Blizzards for you as they're in different packages if you like?

Can I tempt you to an Intel Xeon 2.8Ghz for your collection, Keith? I've also got some Pentium III CPUs in PGA 370 flavour, in 733, 850 & 950Mhz speeds.

A marvelous collection of x86's, and most with a story to tell - lovely. :)

And here I thought it was kinda crazy I was holding on to a bunch of those .. you got a bunch more than me even ... :D

Nice collection mr Z:thumbup:

I'm totally gonna have to take a few snaps of my CPU collection, aren't I?

I've got a Pentium overdrive CPU with integrated cooler, Keith. Haven't got a glue, what kind of Pentium it is as the cooler doesn't seem that it will come off without breaking something. If you're interested, it's yours, my friend. :)

Now all you need are some old Intel & Evergreen Overdrive CPUs and maybe some Powerleap adapters :). I notice you don't have any of the Socket 5 & 7 IDT Winchip CPUs either, although they were pretty cheap and nasty (slow) from my experience.

Funnily enough, I was discussing IDT Winchip CPUs with the big Z earlier today on the phone. I was wondering if he had one in his collection and I asked him to post this naked hardware pr0n for us all to enjoy.

:)

I once had a 240MHz IDT Winchip C6 (with MMX) and it could barely keep up with a 166MHz Intel Pentium!... They were cheap to buy and pretty basic compared to the competition.

Hey Keith m8! I have the same OCD lol

I have had nearly all of those cpu's, infact I still have some lurking away.

On a recent hunt/tidy I found some unused Evergreen 486 upgrade kits, god knows where I got them from lol.

I've got some unusual ones myself (also some common ones).
I'll be testing all of them soon, to see which one scores the best in benchmarks.
The test will be between all DX2-66 models (I also have an AMD one), so it will be:
Intel, TI, IT's, AMD and Cyrix against each other ;)

(sorry for the quality, took the picture with my ipod)

How about the older cpu's , 16bit, 8bit, 4bit?

Got loads of them, maybe put them up for sale one day.

Are these Evergreen kits suitable to upgrade an Intel 486DX-33? If so, I might take one off your hands.

Oh dear lord, "designed for windows 95" sticker even on the damn processor?
