Did you managed to secure one ??

I have pre-ordered a PS5 but at the last minute because I foolishly went to bed after the PS5 video expecting an 8am as promised release if I only realised some pre-orders opened as soon as the video finished and others around 5am so I'm expecting that to fail.

I did get an Xbox series X through Microsoft's themselves.

Just thought I would look at ebay not to buy but just see the scalpers in action to see if the bots are still bidding to 50k for fun like the GTX 3080 ( and xbox today ) flabbergasted...

I searched for PS5 in the UK alone 7 pages with each page showing 200 auctions, thats TODAY nevermind what's already sold over the last week or so.

my view of the scalpers.

Not bothering, will wait a couple of years before even considering this generation of consoles. Barely use the PS4 as it is, play the Switch more but still not enough modern games to make me want a new console day 1 again (I did with the Switch).

Ordered a xbox series s from Argos. After failing with game, smyths toys and Amazon. Had to get my ps5 from eBay. I totally forgot about it being released on the 18th.

I managed to preorder a PS5 with a drive. Be interesting to see how long I have to actually wait after they are released until I get it.

I'm the same as some of the other members here, just wasn't bothered about rushing out to pre-order the next gen. I purchased 2 Project Scorpios on launch last time around and one of the consoles has barely seen any use!

The new Series S has been severely cut back with only 4 tflops, it's not in the same league as the Series X with 12 tflops.

The Series S is not really next gen at all when you look at the specs, and not worth bothering with , unless you didn't already own the "last gen" X console, infact the last gen X has 6 tflops, so it's actually better than the new Series S in terms of performance.

Think I will wait a while :-)

I just bought them both from eBay for £1500 each, much easier :/

The whole point of the Series S wasn't actually to provide next gen hardware. It was to give games a far cheaper entry level Xbox, able to access new games, but on what is basically tarted up last gen hardware which is not that different to the current One S. It won't even be able to run the enhanced One X games or 4k so is going to be a big disappointment for many younger gamers receiving it this Christmas.

Xbox can no longer be considered a standalone fixed hardware platform. It's now to facilitate PC gaming on console because the majority of releases will be cross platform, and as such designed to eun on multiple hardware. The negative in doing that is a lack of fixed hardware optimization to see what it can really do.

I'm waiting. I will be buying a PS5 and 3080 but the launch preorders were stupid for both. Early next year when it's all calmed down and possibly prices have dropped a bit, then I will buy. It's not like there will be many exclusives until then anyway. I can wait a few months.

I tried to get a PS5 yesterday, lots of queuing and crashed out when I got to check out, wastes almost 2hrs of my life. Will wait to buy one from stock, Mrs Fitz said I could have one for Christmas so hopefully it will be possible to buy one for then without all the drama.

Why bother? Everyone in here (and the entire gaming world) already has more than enough games to choose from and its a super half baked increment that wasn't truly needed yet. Say hi to the same games but with shiny floors, now yours for £80. Methinks the failure rate of these paid beta test editions are going to be through the roof just as they were with the PS360 generation until they got it sorted with the refresh. The generation after will be the one to watch as thats when it will get interesting.

I managed to get both easily enough. I guess I am lucky to live in a country where demand isn't THAT high. In fact, Xbox Series X'es are still readily available for preorder here.
Why, though? Just new fancy hardware :help:. Only really want to play Demon's Souls

Ill wait to next year for both.
I got an rtx 3080 instead for now.

I'd also hold off on the RTX 3080 now until they can fix the crashing issues (hardware problem). I'm personally waiting to see what AMD show us soon .

I'll be getting a PS5 at some point, but I'll wait until after they've been released and are readily available. I still have quite a few unfinished games on my PS4 Pro.

I'm waiting about a year or so.. i've been bitten too many times with failures. I used to queue up at midnight back in the old days :)

IF Your TV doesn't have HDMI 2.1 for Next Gen Console and does it matter or doesn't make any different if you have HDMI 2.0?

I got my new TV for this very reason, 65" LG C9 Oled with HDMI 2.1 , It got an update a few months back to support VRR on PC and the new xbox and ps5.

curious to see if my eye will see the difference between 4k@60 and 4k@120 . the C9 after the update supports VRR 40-120hz

Much Smoother and Less Blurs I guess.

Thats a great TV. What did you have before you upgrading and how does the new set compare with current gen consoles in terms of image quality? You got anything older like PS3/360/Wii that outputs at lower res as well as I'd be interested in hearing how they upscale. Feel free to reply here or create a general TV thread as it would be good to know who has what and what they think of it.

I do not post here than much
what is everyone doing for ps5/xseries
i have made my mind up that i if i get a new console i will stick with a disk tray. was going to move from ps4 to xbox with xbox all access but the preorder was a mess and there arnt any more lined up (that i can see).

this morning i have been tempted to get a cheapish gaming pc instead. i have seen the below two what do you think?

has anyone got a console today / coming this week, how are they?

i got the xbox series X ( and a PS5 due next week ) and its smaller than it looks,

download speeds went from 100-150mbs on my xbox X to 350mbs ( my isp speed )

loading xbox one games is very fast as is startup speed. quick resume is cool and the UI menu no longer lags.

performance wise well,, dunno my 50 yr old eyes can only see 60fps and my xbox one X was already pretty quick, but games do feel smoother but backwards compatibility and game pass is the killer. Awsome.
I want to try the new Gears 5 but im not so good at shooters these days which is a real shame as I was pretty good as CS back in the day G2G. we got up in the top 5 in edladder in my youth.

I'm looking forward to my PS5 as I love open world games with a slower pace ( my age I guess ) so excited for Horizon Zero dawn 2 and others.
the only downside is the smaller space ( 667gb ) and as of release you cannot archive PS5 games to an external HDD ( the xbox supports this ) so if you runout of SSD space then you gotta re-download the game :(

Hoping Sony release a new PSVR as the one we have is really cool, silly games like job simulator and astro bot etc the kids love it.

gaming PC wise, I dont chase the rat race anymore as I cant afford to keep up, my last upgrade this year due to lockdown Ryzen 3600 , 32gb ram , 2070 RTX with a couple of SSD drives and its staying like that for quite a few years as nothing I use maxes the PC out ( apart from a new indi game called teardown loads a fun try it )
my 2070 can handle 4k horizon zero dawn and Death Standing with ease at max settings. ( horizon if you want 60fps then its 1440p or medium details )

will be interesting what the new AMD cards are like and if Nvidia will drop the prices more.

so I would wait on the PC side and see what the new AMD range ( top gaming performance atm killing intel and price ) + GPU combo will offer.

im pretty sure a budget AMD cpu + GPU setup would compete with a high end intel setup + 3000 range RTX card.
