Hi All,
I've found my way here seeking some old C64 hardware.
I had one of the first batch of C64s in the UK when they first arrived; the 'bundled' C2N followed a bit later, so there was a horrible period of "type it in and lose it if you switch off!". Later I splashed out for a 1541.
I was very active in the UK South Coast C64 hacking and party scene, writing code and helping to...'cough'...archive programs.
I was onine from the earliest opportunity, and designed a lot of C64 interface gear for non-commercial use. I did once write a full 80-col VT100/ANSI terminal emulator in assembler for the C64. Sadly I no longer have the source code or a working copy.
At 16 I started an electronic engineering apprenticeship, and my world became full of mainframes, Intel development kit and Cromemco CP/M stuff. I lost the C64 bug and, regrettably, sold all my kit. I still did do some electronics as a hobby, but switched to a PC at home for work and courses.
A couple of years back I was given a broken Speccy, which I fixed (cost me more in parts than buying another on e*ay), and this re-woke my 8-bit interests, so I now have 2 Speccys, a BBC B and a C64C. I did keep a few of the add-ons I made for the 64, but I am really starting afresh as I have forgotten most of the my coding skills - ah well.
