Well, all of this added activity inside my case means that after quite a a while, I am getting some minor screen corruption - this is exactly what I had before the fan went on the Indy and the heat sink on Alice. I reckon there is not enough airflow.
So what I have done is added an extraction fan under the vents, and I also have a fan to pull air in that I am likely to site beside the PCMCIA slot. The IDE-Fix Express is slightly in the way, but I am hoping this will also help channel the airflow down to Alice a bit.
To better aid all of this, I ordered some shorter IDE cables, and an angled IDE riser from Amigakit. Having fitted them, and admiring how much of a cleaner layout it gives, it has left the cable to the CF adapter a little too short.
2 steps forwards, one step back......
A quick note on the fans. The first fan I had was from Amigakit and went on to my Indy Mk 2 last year (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=666 ). This is relatively quiet and I therefore ordered another for the trapdoor – this one however quite quickly sounded like a small jet aircraft taking off. I therefore ordered 2x 40mm fans from QuietPC.com, with the 2nd one going under the vents. These are slightly thicker at 1cm depth. ( http://www.quietpc.com/mini-kaze )
For the external fan, I not only wanted quiet, but ideally to look slightly better than a simple black fan – so I went for this: http://www.quietpc.com/nf-a4x10
