    1084 and collapsed picture *fixed*

Still working great! Maybe the picture is tilted just a little but I think I'm not going to do nothing about it, it's so minor. Another thing is that it starts to bloom quite easily, if contrast is in the middle it's already blooming a little. If I set contrast a little bit lower it's fine.

Paid - for this and with that cheap fix, not bad :) Power button is going next, it turns on easily but powering off is harder.

I think 1081 is little different. R346 near the IC, it was burned. But why it burned, that's a mystery...

    1084 and collapsed picture *fixed*

Poked around with multimeter and didn't find shorts or anything suspicious... Swapped new resistor in there and it works. Been using it for an hour maybe, new resistor don't get hot. Very good picture, actually better than on my other 1084. This has sharpness pot and scart from the factory...

    1084 and collapsed picture *fixed*

There was around +12V in pin 5. Didn't find R348 yet... Vertical size pot is good. But, R346 looks bad, 4R7 and it gives kilo-ohms.

Voltages are OK from the PSU, without cable connected to main board or cable connected. Voltages are the same, around +16V, +26V, +126V.

    1084 and collapsed picture *fixed*

This was working years ago and put away, and now this. It tells me it's cap(s), those die even not in use, or just because of that. And of course the IC (TDA2653A) can be bad too.

    1084 and collapsed picture *fixed*

Got myself a 1084 yesterday but it's broken. Picture is collapsed in the middle. White line moves if I tune vertical and horizontal pots. I've used it only seconds so the line won't get burned on to screen. I already looked for bad solder joints but will continue doing that. Have been googling...

    Sold Boxed 386 Motherboard (QD-U386DX)

Still I'm not declaring interest, need to think about it a little. But how much postage to Finland?

    Sold Boxed 386 Motherboard (QD-U386DX)

Do you happen to have a 386 CPU socket for this mobo? I can solder it in place. Had this exact same model some time ago but it was destroyed by Varta and never got it stable at any clock speed but when it worked it was super fast with MR BIOS, 486DLC @50MHz (50MHz BUS) and ET4000. That UMC...

Commodore 1083S CRT, picture pumping & focus problems

I mean the surrounding area was dirty and seems it was handsoldered when all the others are soldered by machine.

Commodore 1083S CRT, picture pumping & focus problems

I just somehow missed bad solder joints on HOT... Did a reflow and bang, the damn thing works perfectly. Seems that somebody has been there before me.

Commodore 1083S CRT, picture pumping & focus problems

Thanks for your tips, I appreciate. I was just shocked how I can't find ANYTHING about this subject by googling so I can have some clues where to start looking about this problem. I have repaired a lots of stuff, computers, amplifiers... and I was working as an electrician for 15 years, tested...

Commodore 1083S CRT, picture pumping & focus problems

Got another CRT, Philips VS0080: https://www.msx.org/wiki/Philips_VS_0080 And it does the same thing but not as bad as 1083S. Picture shrinks and starts to lose it's focus when brightness is turned low. How can it be even possible that no one here don't know what causes that behaviour?!? :)

Commodore 1083S CRT, picture pumping & focus problems

More testing... I have few white letters on screen with black background. When the monitor is cold it fully works maybe two minutes. And then it starts pumping the picture smaller, while losting focus, and after a moment it stays smaller without focus. Then I start to raise brightness so the...
