So here's a special kit for desktop A1200. It consists of:
Blizzard 1260 (rev 1) at 50MHz with a 128MB SIMM
Blizzard SCSI Kit IV with the latest rom and a 128MB SIMM (Giving 256MB RAM in total)
PowerMonster II 2.5" CF to SCSI adapter (with a modified angle of the contact) with a Bakmonolith...
It really is a terrific solution for older machines. I think the max speed it can deliver is somewhere around 2.5mb/s, so if you want more than that there are other (more expensive) options. For the price it really is the best solution out there.
So, a quick update. Due to the fact that the BakMonolith (2.5" SCSI to DB25 adapter) has the DB25 connector pointing downwards, and that DB25 connectors aren't exactly thin, I'm having problems fitting this in the drive cage under the keyboard in my A1200D. It's too thick to fit, basically. One...
It's in a similar position right now too, turns out the contact on the BakMonolith is just too big and sticks out the wrong way. Up would have been better than down. I'm considering using some kind of extension cable for the 2.5" SCSI or something like that. Not sure yet.

It's a 2.5" SCSI connector. I don' think it would be neater, lots of work to make a cable for that. It's easier to use the adapter that came with the PowerMonster.

I'm not using it to attach to a backplate actually, it's going to a PowerMonster II sitting in the drive cage of the A1200, so completely internal routing. The supplied cable is not long enough so I can't currently put the PowerMonster in the drive cage.
