I'm not a collector of these so don't have a definitive answer regarding them but my personal opinion is that no matter what you're collecting, if the box isn't tampered with, leave it be. Doesn't matter if it's worth 1p or £1M, leave the box as is. I got a weird look from the Mrs for buying...
