Just got an email that a1200.net is going to produce new batch of CD32 bundles for original backers (only) based on poll results, perhaps those will overflow into ebay with more sensible prices.
I voted yes for new batch since I love my CD32 themed A1200 but I do not have heart to actually use...
Search eBay by using "sd ide 44" as keywords. Sort by lowest price and you should find those adapters for USD 6 or so. I use separate 90 degree angle adapter, search for "amiga sd" and you should find one for USD 10 or so.
Hmm has batch 2 of mass produced Vampire 600s been shipped? I am asking because I just got notification from Finnish customs that I need to clear shipment from the Canada. Now, I am 99% sure it's the Vampire but since I order stuff all over the world all the time, it COULD be something else also...
I think they announced earlier somewhere that this will be the new procedure. They will take prepayments from n people, order boards from the external manufacturer, ship the boards and then repeat.
Decided to do one more mod... I recapped the PSU earlier but decided to ditch the old PCB and upgrade it with a modern switching mode PSU, Meanwell RT-50B. It has great specs for Amiga and actually I found Rubycon 105C caps inside... Anyways, it fits nicely in to the Amiga PSU enclosure...
Furia is superb, have no bad word to say about it. Did you already put the new caps in?
Meanwhile my personal project is coming to the end (that is until I manage to get Vampire II, 604n and RapidRoad USB). My primary purpose was to restore but reluctantly I had to destroy something also...
Just got 44pin IDE-cable, SD-card reader and Kickstart 3.x ROM. Prepared SD-card with WinUAE and put it into Amiga... aaaaand nothing. Re-plugged everything multiple times and finally got flickering HDD led - but it was not flickering due to data transfer since it soon faded slowly and turned...
You should practice a bit using hot air with some dead hardware. It was super easy, I literally practiced only 15 minutes and then proceeded to remove caps from Amiga and had no problems whatsoever. I really do not know how I've been able to do any SMD work without... For soldering new caps I...
Got some new gear... Namely hot air SMD rework station and some caps.
Spent last two days recapping my Amiga 600. Should I have known how major PITA it was, I would have gladly paid somebody to do it for me. Removing old cap using hot air was child's play but new caps... I bought Panasonic's...
Reply for myself. I do not know how I have ever been able to do any SMD work without hot air station. I changed the caps of my A600 mobo and it was sooooo easy. Only trick I needed to learn by desoldering old broken PCB was that pre-heating general area where the caps are helps a lot. I used...
Old thread but did not want to open new one as this is close enough... So I'm in need to replace caps on my Amiga 600. I've done plenty of smd soldering during the years but pretty much no de-soldering. After I read enough about pulled pads and traces when using improper techniques and due to...
My Keyboard, PSU and mouse just came from the Retr0bright solution and I think results are superb taking into account how old the machine really is:
Re-capping and upgrading the hardware will be the next steps. What a coincidence - I received very very exciting shipment from the Poland also...
