Thanks for confirming this, another lesson learned. Found elsewhere, that even S3 Virge / Trio cards would work. I think I'll hunt for those too, they don't cost arm, leg and two souls.

All of above solved. It was multiple problems, but the main culprit sits between the chair and soldering station. Buster socket had couple bad contact pins, added some solder too. And the final reason was, 1 pin of resistor network was no contact on firebird and other one had small solder...
