For that kind of money you should be able to find a 100% working c64 in excellent condition

Well according to the schematic
the old style 64 ( breadbin ) with the 6569 vic chip does need the 9 volt that's is what powers your rf modulator
the 12 volt dc is derived from the 9 volt ac and powers the sid and the vic chip ( pin 13 )
the 9 volt also powers the casette motor and the user...

Going back to the faulty bredbin do you get nothing on your tv or do you get a black screen ?
The original bredbin machines have one fatal problem...

the c64 case looks really yellowed hope mine turns out as good as that
i i gotta do now is work out where to get the bits from i guess the uv lamp is tha hardes thing to get hold of?

Is there a general tutorial for the retrobrite process and a list of things required to achieve best results ?

but he may not know that a pc version is available also he hasnt managed to get a c64 version yet so untill then he can play the pc version :D

I am looking for old commodore boards c16 vic20 c64 plus 4 etc etc ( UK ideally but could always just remove the IC's if abroad)
the boards don't have to be working as I only want them for spares as spares are getting harder and harder to find
