Would be nice if you told us exactly what you have done. We see pictures, and you clearly got the board from the NES controller, put it somehow in The Arcade Joystick, but you don't mention which cables have to be soldered where. Could you make a diagram of which cables go where?

You don't need the power supply to work with the Protar. It will draw its power from the A500 PSU. As long as you don't have any extra memory installed in it.
