so the avatar box on the left says i joined in 2008, so i have been haunting this place for 11 years (still a newbie compared to some) but surely i can't have been here 11 years!!

I feel the same. I'm NOT that old!

I've been here nearly 9 years Juvver. And I still haven't cracked 1000 posts.

Seems we're all growing old together disgracefully...

number of post has dropped off dramatically compared to the good old days when we used to have fun on here ;)

Out of curiosity Juvver, where dust thou tend to reside these days?

Fair enough. I don't use FB. Most of the peeps I know are on Discord.

How many years I got?

Ah, you're one up on me lol. I got more feedbacks tho :p

Team Awesome...

A modest name if ever I saw one.

I've heard all about it Steve!

Live long with the knowledge that, no matter how bad your gameplay may seem, it can never be as god awful as mine.

Lol 9 for me but it does seem like a long time, i will say this though i have met a few good friends on here old and new, even if not met personally they are great folk.

What happened to those days? I think I've been a member here for a decade. Not that I've participated much (at all) for the last three years or so. Is it just me, or did this hobby just stop being as much fun?

Anyway, how is everyone? It's been a while...

If 70% of all my buyers wouldn't 'forget' to leave a feedback I would have beaten you by now Steve.. ;) But no doubt you had quite some golden years, probably about a quarter of all amiga hw. bought/sold at Amibay went through your hands at one point. :)

Doing good; getting older... Still doing some Gaming :)

Been messing around with Retopie a lit recently as it's much easier just to fire up that hooked up to my big telly. Most my consoles, etc are in boxes due to lack of space but I do get them out occasionally for the events and such and have space for 1 Amiga setup to be out.

Yeah I'm probably due another couple hundred maybe, when I was buying/selling the bulk of my kit there was a bit more interest in the forums generally and feedback wasn't so hit and miss. Yeah I had some crazy years when I was buying loads lol.

Managed to buy back a fraction these last couple of years but the prices aren't so nice. I think the bottom is going to drop out of retro any time soon because apart from the rare stuff it's not sustainable.

I joined 10 years ago. I can't remember exactly what triggered it but I just had an urge to get an Amiga again, it had probably been 12 years since I'd owned my last one. There's something special about the Amiga for me, and the community that sprang up around it. And probably always will be. My wife thinks that's quite odd but is fortunately a very tolerant woman :-)

I spent loads of money on various Amigas and related tech in 2009 and scratched a very big nostalgia itch. But shortly after 'tinker' time just ran out as we started a family and it all ended up in storage.

10 years later, 2019, I got that same itch. Dug stuff out of storage and had a play. Sold some on so I could buy some new. So many great things that so many talented people are still creating for our favourite computer, I wish I had that drive (and ability!).

But now I'm getting far more out of building and re-configuring than I get out of actually running any software, of actually using the machines. My kids watch me tinkering and despite me waxing lyrical about how amazing machines were amazing back in the day, all they see is ultra low resolution graphics, no 3D, massive loading delays and 'weird' music. They can't see the point. And maybe that's starting to rub off on me, seeing it through younger eyes.

And my point is... no idea! Something about a generation of us fading away. I'm rambling. Going to bed, night!

Enthusiasm declined over time for anything.. unless something new rekindles the spark and gets your interest up again.

Finding, or creating, a new community is always a great moment, when everyone comes together and starts discussing and sharing. But after a whole it has all been said and discussed. The only way to keep the momentum going is for some in the community to have the time to actively keep the conversation moving. Posting new topics, news items, crafting new content etc

I think it's just life getting in the way in general. When we were all younger we had a lot less responsibility or work related concerns. We could all spend our evenings and weekends gaming or tinkering with old hardware, or working on Amibay and other projects.

Equally 11 years ago the systems were not actually still that old. Now the last real model of Amiga f.ex was released (by Commodore) 26 years ago! As each year progresses a lot of new systems, hardware and current games get released. I haven't got time to play new releases, let alone all thre old ones I still haven't played yet. Lol.

The retro scene however has thankfully gained momentum in recent years, and emulation is bigger then ever.
