Just a quick post as I know some peeps on the forum have been Interested in what the 1541 Ultimate II can do on the 64.

Hi Mohican

I don't know too much about 128DCR to be honest but I have read on other forums that the internal disk drive automatically sets itself as drive 8.

Problem is so does the Ultimate II oh:

Obviously these settings can be changed but just something to bear in mind.

Also on a standard 128 the Ultimate II works fine in 64 mode but a bit temperamental in 128 Mode

It at least was with my package. a short one.

They are no longer included. Apparently he couldn't get decent pricing on serial cables anymore, so you need to supply your own. There is a guy on ebay selling cables specifically "designed" for the Ultimate 1541 II... nice and short just like the one that used to be included.

Thats the one I bought. £5 or something along those lines. Looks a good quality actually.

Still curious about t64 format. I assume it runs without the cable for that one.

I run both my IDE64 on a C128 together with my 1541Ultimate-II with the latest firmware. I use a CMD cartridge expander to use both cartridges at once.

Works fine.

I had to order a serial cable for full 1541 drive emulation - cost about £3.00 in UK

Also you can use one from your 1541 drive if you have a spare

.t64 files work without a tape adaptor

.tap files need the adaptor

Yeah I just use a regular IEC cable with mine.

Mine didn't came with the cable i had to make mine,not hard, just get to 8 din plugs and solder them with a little wire. Anyone with minimal soldering skills can do that.

Mine came with the tape adapter which is great for loading TAP files like a true tape and you can record them back to tape as well.

You can still use the cartdrige without the tape adapter.

Bottom line, this is one of the best expansions you can buy for the C64 computer
