A breadbin from France, germany or the UK uses the 6569 which requires 5Vdc/12Vdc.
Your computer likely requires the 8565 which will operate only on 5Vdc.
Also, inside your C64c, you may have board 250466 which is a sort of hybrid mainboard which happens to use the 6569 and is the same size as a breadbin mainboard but uses a pair of 41464 DRAM chip like later generations of mainboards.
The vast majority of C64c have board 250469 (aka 64e) which is smaller and uses the 8565 VIC-II.
Its important you know exactly which one you need. If you simply say "I have a C64c" and buy the 8565 but it so happens the board inside your C64c is a 250466 then the 12V source will destroy your VIC-II.
If you get a 6569 and try to run it on a board 250469, you just won't get any image.
