About:

I build this system a week ago as a wayback retro machine, but I more or less build the wrong machine for the games I wanted to play :picard
So for sale is my 486 DX4. It uses one of the best late 486 gigabyte boards with build in I/O and PCI busmaster slots. It can handle pretty much every 486/overdrive cpu
The case is a baby AT case It was yellow so I painted it RAL 9001 or late computer beige, It's done correctly no worries about paint pealing off. I added a extra 80x80 fan in the front.
The PSU secondary side of the PSU has been recaped and cleaned. The cpu has a northbridge block glued to it no fan needed. The dallas clock is still good.
You also get the leftover ral 9001 can and a ral 1013 if you really want that old computer color :-)

Specs:
CPU : Am486 DX4-100
Mainboard Gigabyte GA486AM/S
Ram : 16 MB Fastpage
Cache 256KB
FDD 3.5 in 1.44m
Cdrom IDE ?? speed
HardDisk 40 gig seagate
Soundcard Soundblaster Vibra16 ISA
Network card Realtek PCI (works under dos/win95
Videocard PCI Opti
PSU 200 Watt AT
Mouse Philips serial

The system is stable, as far as I can test it, everything works, windows is stable I can play mp3's for hours taxing the cpu with a constant 85% load.
File transferring in windows works fine you get a whopping 700 KB's under win95C and about 1 MB under dos. The cpu can be upgraded to 166 MHz
using a amd 5x86@133 overclocked to 166, that will give you about the speed of a pentium 75.

I put 150 euros into this build so I hope to get it out of it ;-)
Will be well packed for shipping.

Interest pending
Could you explain a little more in what way this machine doesn't cover your gaming needs? I'd rather not spend money to bump into the same issue myself :)

Very nice mate. My ideal machine. I have great memories playing Doom and Q1 on a DX4 100. Best of luck with it, I'm gutted I have no spare cash for it :(

I was a big command & conquer red alert fan, this machine is just a little to slow. I could bump it up to 166 MHz that would do it I think, but my gaming adventures started around the pentium 100 I think ;-) sorry for the late response.

Oh well lets do a price drop to 140.
