All,

I'm looking for an '060 accelerator for my A4000. If possible, I'd like an accelerator with a SCSI interface, but I am flexible.

Must be willing to ship to the USA.

Suggestions of model are welcome.

Thanks!

The holy grail of A4000/060 boards are the Phase 5 CyberStorm series of boards, with the Mark III and PPC cards having an onboard UW SCSI interface, for lightning-fast disk access. :-)

The alternative is the Quikpak '060, which has RAM slots, but is lacking the SCSI interface.

You can see a list of many popular A4000 accelerators here:

Good luck in your search!

Thanks, AndyLandy.

Do you have any thoughts on the GVP T-Rex II? Theoretically, that is available, new, from SoftHut.

I don't hear many folks talking about it, though.

To be honest, I've had no experience (yet) with any '060 boards (although I hope to change that as soon as I can) ;-)

GVP were always a pretty reliable brand. I've had a couple of their SCSI cards, and many folks on here use GVP accelerators in A2000s. Amiga Resource doesn't have much bad to say about the board, so it could well be a perfectly reasonable solution.

If you're looking at shopping with SoftHut, I strongly encourage you to phone them, check they have what you're looking for and order that way. By all accounts, Joe is a pretty reliable guy, but he's not so great at keeping his website up-to-date. :-)

I have that specific board in my A4000D. I haven't had any problems, but make certain you verify whether it uses GVP specific RAM or standard 72 pin SIMMs. They were built two different ways, and it can cause some confusion. I have mine loaded down with 128MB of RAM at 60ns and it's pretty fast I guess. It runs everything I throw at it very nicely. As of the last time I talked to Joe, shortly after I got my GVP-M 4060DT, I think he said he was almost out of them. Give him an e-mail and see what he has to say.

I'm in contact with Joe. I just emailed him to find out everything. I'll let you know as soon as he gets back to me. I know for a fact he has Spectrum RTG boards in stock, but I didn't think to ask before about the accelerators, so he'll let me know and I'll let you know! He probably has A2000 060s as well!

Right now every single item in the GVP section is in stock. I have about 14, A4000 060, 6, A2000 060 and about 12 Spectrums currently as well as some A1200 accels and GVP ram 4mb and 16mb

So there you go buddy! Order away if you want to. You can grab a nice NEW 060!
