I have to SCSI kits here. Totally unsure what they have rom wise? Still have not actually used them.

I assume it is easy to swap them out? as in remove old chip and replace with new...

Hi!

You just need a PLCC puller, then you replace older ROM with new one and voilà! You are ready.

For checking the ROM version you have to give the command

version 1230scsi.device full
