A1200 Problem #1 - No video

Hiya folks

Along with a few others, I organise KO2 tournaments and have helped with the last 5 UK Champs along with the World Cup...and my Amiga's have worked great but are now struggling somewhat!

Basically my first problem concerns the fact that if I hook up the Amiga either via Monitor or TV, the screen i just garbeled. Originally it only worked with a monitor but now it doesent work with that anymore :/

How would I go about trying to find the cause...are things like this generally repairable?

You should specify whether you're using rf connection or amiga video to scart lead. If one connection has failed try the other

(if you haven't already, try an amiga rgb scart lead)

there is few chips to test (and exchange by a new one) if needed. It could be Alice too etc... Feel free to send me a PM.

I had never opened this up before and found a 4MB card lurking in it! but the reason for the problem was because of the old Hard Drive. I believe it was an A1200 HD from way back when. Strangely, when it was removed it loaded up fine.

I believe John was saying it had been fitted back to front for all these years!

no worries mate I tried with my cf adapter and worked fine. inside was a blizzard 1220 4mb.

i must mention though that this is why its so difficult to diagnose any sort of problem within threads,its always better to see it in the flesh.

i agree roy posting back and forth can be a pain especially if the op has no or little knowledge of the system or where it came from.

like the mediator system we sorted from slovenia

but basics can help
