I am an A500 fan and new to A1200....
I have bought a NOS A1200 today and have some questions

-) to start the console, I mean to receive the first screen takes more than 10 secs. Is that OK ? As a user of A500, it means long time to me.....?

-) I have the RF cable, connected to a new LCD, and the screen has some lines. When I touch and move the cable the lines get less. What can be the reason for this ? Problem with the console, cable or the LCD ?

-) what other options do I have to get a more clear screen ? What kind of connections ?

Thank you all.....

Congrats on your new toy :-)

Boot delay is normal, your Amiga is looking for a HDD, if you insert a disk or fit a HDD no more delay.

RF output sux, you should invest in an RGB scart lead.

What Steve said.....when I dont have the floppy connected to the A1200 the wait is even longer....sometimes I fear the thing has died!
And to add to the video output, with no cash, try the AV connection. With a little cash try the RGB lead (in AUS unfortunately most TVs use component RGB so needs a convertor for the Amiga RGB). ANother alternative, Kipper's RGB>AV adaptor is a little nicer output than the Amiga AV...and the ultimate if youve got some cash is the excellent Indivision.

If you get to the Indivision....you know youre addicted :)

Thank you both...

I can not express myself better than that "sometimes I fear the thing has died!".....:D

I will try the RGB scart lead......

Today I have unboxed my A1200, it says a1200hd on the case badge and on the bottom sticker.
I have bought it from Mr. Petro and while buying thought that without an hdd.
I also ran the install disk and after selected the hdd partition 0, it has worked and came with error.
So does it mean the hdd faulty or without hdd. Is there any way to learn it without opening the console and look inside?

If it has a working HDD inside surely you will hear it spinning up? If you hear nothing there's either no HDD or the one inside is dead, without opening it, unless you have a crystal ball there's no other way to know for sure.

Try the Install disk if you have it, and then open the drawer HDTools HDToolBox tool .... (Install: HDTools / HDToolBox) will tell you if you have a hard drive connected .....

your journey has only just began `Grasshopper` now the addiction kicks in !

if you dont have a harddrive in there, steve does an excellent service you might want to look at:)

you might need a bit more ram though.

definately get a CF HD from steve, top banana

I heard about cf cards, and planning to get one with a ram....

heard Steve's just from you and very interested in...

but before all of these, I want to buy another a1200, searching for NOS, declared interest on two but still haven't received any answer yet. I am not happy with the one that I have just bought two days ago...

To be honest.... nothing....

Just expecting more perfect because it is also NOS, bought from Mr. Petro.
disks, mouse, cables and the psu are brand new. I had just teared the coverings of them.
the console itself is also very very white, the keys also.
The console has been opened to check the working status and as I guess to unmount the hdd. It says a1200hd on the case badge, but removed from inside.
As a result it has been opened and has very very small scratch....
I mean just because of my expectations to get a perfect one....:D

I bought the RGB to scart lead, and is the best as suggested....:D
I also bought a pcmcia card instead of a cf hdd in order not to open the console...
I bought two NOS ( the famous indian stock ) A1200, and spare cases and keyboards. Now I am completing my system, and will sell others here coming days....
