Hi. I have a3000 with a3640. Works just fine. I decided to switch a3640 with WarpEngine 040 (four simms). Warp works in a4000 with 3.9 roms. I put two 16mb sims in lower simm slots of WE. A4000 recognizes them no problem. When I put WE into a 3000, I have power led blinking, dark screen. I downloaded dms with libs from online, when I inserted the disk - no reaction, when I copied the files onto CF card - same thing. No booting from CF.
Can you guys help me?

You can’t get into the early boot menu?

the symptoms you describe are exactly what happens when I put my WarpEngine in my 4000 with mediator. However, the WarpEngine works in my 3000 just fine.

Is your 3000D mobo recapped?

Your 3000D onboard SCSI is terminated? (onboard or externaly)

Do you have INT2 fix on your 3000D mobo?

What is the condition of your powersupply?

Motherboard recapped, I'm not using SCSI (buddha with ide). Not sure of int2 fix or condition of PSU, but I will say I have no int2 and psu is OK.

What jumper settings you have on yours? Any simms installed?

Check warpengine manual. I remember the A3000 mobo needs a mod to bring it up to 4000 spec. Probably the int2 k0x said.

E: found the A3000 addendum for warpengine manual. what we're interested in I think:

6. Now you need to attach the Red clip to pin 21 of CIA U350 on themotherboard. This clip has to be attached so that the SCSI controllerreceives the interrupt signal required for proper operation.*

*Das Kabel ist auf der WarpEngine an JP4 angelötetund führt zu Pin 21 von U350

in plain english you have two choices. connect warpengine jumper JP4 connect to CIA U30 pin 21, or mod motherboard cpu slot. Some say this INT2 connection is only needed for SCSI part of the card, others say it's needed to work at all. But if your motherboard jumpers are correct and it doesn't work then that confirms you need to make the INT2 connection.

motherboard jumpers:

Zefram Cochrane said:
1. There are three jumpers on the motherboard that have to be set correctly for proper operation of the Warp Engine in your computer.
J100 This jumper needs to have the two pins on the right (toward the motherboard Ram section) connected together. (alt: links zu - neu: rechtszu)
J102 This jumper needs to have the two pins on the left connected together(The two toward the Expansion connector at the center of the computer) Alt:rechts zu
J104 This jumper needs to have the two pins on the left connected together(The two toward the Expansion connector at the center of the computer) Alt:links zu

If you're going to do motherboard slot mod then here's a guide:

Interesting. Is there any reason why a WE might work in a 3000 (which has the Int2 mod on the motherboard) but not in a 4000? I don’t have the red clip lead, so might there be an int2 issue here..?

4000s always have int2 on the cpu slot, unless a connection is broken or something. Your jumpers are right?

I don't have a 4000 or warpengine to test. But I think you solved warpengine problem pretty well by fitting cyberstorm instead, right?
