---- Original text ----

With a heavy heart, I put up for sale my trusty a4000, that I have owned since the beginning.

It is an A4000/030 that was used in my mothers company back in the days as part of a larger number of Amiga’s. When she switched to PC, I retained one of the systems and have kept it running al those years. Although it is yellowed, and a bit scratched, it is in a good working state. Over the years maintenance (caps, harddrive replacement, etc) have been done. It comes with an original box, unfortunately I do not think that the box is of this machine but from an identical twin… :( but alas, it is a box from one of the Amiga’s that were delivered back then…

Base system:

Additional hardware:

Modifications:

  • Battery removed somewhere around 2006 , very very minor leakage (more like discolouring), with no lasting effects;
  • Caps replaced in 2015 (mainboard) / 2016 (power supply);
  • The harddrive is replaced by a 6GB Microdrive and adaptor, the original harddisk brackets are included but the HD is not;
  • Current Kickstart version is 3.1.4, Kickstart v3.1 and 3.0 are included as well

Included OS (all with media):

  • Workbench v3.1.4;
  • Amiga Forever Workbench v3.1;
  • AmigaOS 3.9;
  • MacOS 7.1;

Included software:

  • IDE Max 97;
  • Easynet Pro;
  • CyberGraphX v4;
  • Emplant original software for Mac Emulation, x586dx emulation and Fusion ac emulation, including manuals (see below);
  • Game Myst on CDRom;

Emplant specifics:
The Emplant board is recognised and seems to work in Fusion. However, booting from a System 7.1 CD gives me an error after approx 10m of chopping away. It start with the smiling Mac, and the ‘Welcome to Macintosh’ screen, but fails to load the desktop. I suspect it is because of a wrong Apple ROM but I do not have access to anything but a Quadra. So you will need to do some detective work to see if you can get this to work and you will have to go search for your own Apple ROM as none will be included. I also suspect the Zilog Z85C3008 I/O controller or its Crystal might be bust, the self-diagnoses fails sometimes, so I will include a spare - however, I do not know if this solves the issue I have seen.
Further, the original Emplant software fails to boot with the Quadra ROM (invalid ROM type) as it needs a 256KB ROM which I do not have (and could not find)…
To summarise: the Emplant should be considered ‘bonus’.

Regarding the Monitor:
The Commodore 1940 monitor can be included for local pickup only as it:
1) is very heavy to ship,
2) might not survive shipment and
3) is not in very good shape.
It is as old as the amiga as they were originally purchased together.

The machine boots fine into OS3.1.4, the CDRom works, Amiga Video Passthrough works fine, Cybergraphics has been installed and configured. It comes with two keyboards. The original German and a NOS US English one. It can go online and connect to websites (although slooowly:). It can also Ping the outside world. The USB controller on the back recognises USB sticks fine and is a great method to get files to and from the Amiga. The Goted floppy emulator is configured as DF0: and boots disk images fine. The original HD Floppy Drive is configured as DF1 and also boots and accesses floppies fine.

Everything is working (apart from the Emplant specifics written above), but this is an old lady. No warranty will be given or returns accepted.

I will ship the Amiga itself worldwide as cost in its original box (new foam/bubblewrap/etc will be used) in an ‘overbox’. Depending on the country and shipping method cost can run high. As an example (not final): shipping to the UK will be around 40EURO but to the US it will be as high as 145-250EURO with track and trace but without insurance. Any custom charges are for the buyer - no exceptions.

No splits at the moment.
Price for the machine (including monitor for local pickup) excluding shipping: 1550EURO.
Payment with a SEPA banktransfer (preferred) or Paypal Friend and Family with cost for the buyer.

If the buyer wants, we can have a FaceTime chat where I can demo the machine.

Questions replied reg. size (approx 60cm wide x 57cm depth x 39cm height) and weight (approx 20KG including outer box).

Also, I found out that I still have the original styrofoam to 'fix' the amiga in her box. And, the box has not become prettier over the past 20'some 28+ years... (but that is true for most of us
:()... but than again, I lugged it from student house to house to house to...
