Hey please sign me up for at least one of the SFX versions of the a4000D case. I’m also looking for a case top for one of my a4000 that in a move I inadvertently lost. The pictures you’ve posted are brilliant and I think selling parts would also be a great benefit to the Amiga community and our favorite old girl.

Dimensions are the same, I will do some cases that use all the old type parts PSU etc probably only one run
Cool. Maybe you could build some spare parts for existing cases. I am looking for a top lid, a zorro backplane cage and doughterboard retaining plate. Also interested in a complete new case.. :D

This case appears to be so good I was going to ask... do you fabricate panels for cars, restoration?

I even have an A4000D case with no top! you have a customer right here as I am always interested in new things like this 4000 case :)
No, at the moment mostly parts for the amusement industry.

It is a very nice project. Have you also worked out the manufacturing cost of such a beast ?

Not yet, still figuring things out. I found out the cover can only be made from 1mm material otherwise it doesnt fit in the small slot in the front plastic cover, its a different thickness to all the other metal parts!

When I have everything sorted I can work out costs, I've still the paint to do which is probably the most costly part of it.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, powder coating is expensive... but worth it and you can find plenty of different companies with different setup costs, etc. If you can paint over 5-10 machines at a time (only the cover, by the way...), then you should be fine economically but yes, with 1mm think metal they will need protection for shipping, handling, etc. It's fragile!

Amazing work!!
This is what I had to see after the true feats of creating dream PCBs for our machines, I'm already in love.
Of course I want one to rejuvenate my old A4000 when this marvel is available.
Thank you!!!

Looks great! I'd be interested in a complete case when they are available.

Just want to remind all members that this is a Photo Booth thread showing the progress of @Ordyne's re-engineering of the A4K desktop case and asking for additional ideas to be added to it.
If @Ordyne decides to make and sell this great redesign, he would be required to start an official "for sale" thread, so by all means show your interest in the project, just remember it does NOT Guarantee you a position in the for sale thread and you will need to declare interest there to purchase one when & if it is created.

one big thing is the front we have seen metal ones made but a new front is really what is needed and keyboard cases too

At the moment I have no idea on cost, I want it to be affordable but also worthwhile making, I want a quality case and I’m more focused on getting the best set of features to suit all these great new mainboards we have and all the new hardware we can now use. However I want it to look like an a4000. Regarding the plastics, the goal I have in mind is to get the keyboard shell, front panel , power stick and drive bay covers made but I would need to crowdfund that to cover the costs of the molds and production as the costs are high. Before that I want to get the case finalised as I think that needs to be out there as another’s reason for the front covers to make sense.

As soon as I get reproducing these out of the way I will speed up on the case 👍🏻

I am very interested in a case. Quality and accuracy of fit are very important. Perhaps this could be combined with an aluminum front? Where the original plastic would be nice.

awsome project.. is it gonna be powder coted to? =)

Great stuff we really need these project to get new amiga stuff back to life :P

Very interested in this project also. Also want to point out there is the A4000 desktop Aluminum front bezel production group buy still active. I gladly take a case without front if it has the same mount holes as the original case for the front bezel. (Yes I have a aluminum front waiting to be used so Im based lol)

Very much interested! PCBWay offers Sheet Metal Production including Laser Cutting, bending and Post Production. Could be an opportunity for tests.
