The A500+ will not need you to fit the 2 dil resistor packs,,, ;)
Don't ask why :D

Hello again, my friend :)

Finally I started a new A500+ dual KS project. :roll:

The mobo is the 8A.1 with 42 pin socket. I know, I don't need the 2 SIL resistor packs near the CPU. But....

I need the 4K7 resistor from pin1 to pin22?

Thanks in advance

Yes you still need to hook up VCC to pin 1 via a 4k7 resistor and do not insert pin1 into the mobo 42 pin socket, leave it out at 90 degrees with the wire attached to connect to your switch which will then ground the wire or leave it open letting the 4k7 resistor to do its job, depending whether the switch is on or off.

Hi there,
I have an Amiga A500 with Rev.6 board and i want to make a dual boot 1.3 and 3.1 rom to be able to boot from external media, since my floppy drive doesent work anymore.
Got a MiniPro EPROM flasher, an adapter, some spare 27C800 IC's, wires,resistors and switch.. But unfortunately i have some problems, and my mod does not work. I have searched any help in net and found this thread. Hoped that it can help me but it disappointed me much more. I know it is an old post, but maybe some experienced users can help me to solve my problem. The questions are:
1. Some users mean that additional SIL resistors may be added:
R106 => SIL resistor 4k7
R107 => SIL resistor 4k7
while other say it is NOT NECESSARY on REV.6 MoBo, it is realy confusing, and i am not sure anymore, so can someone, please, with this board revision confirm?
2.Without a 4k7 resistor between pin 1 and 22, i have grey screen only but after i've added it - seems like the computer attemt to start, but fails and i have pink screen!? It's possible that the rom file i have burnt is corrupted or wrong. ( have read that i need to use programm called swapendian or similar, to swap the bytes, but i cant see any difference after swap, if i open this file in winhex..)
3. Do i need to connect to the Gary 35&36 pins?
I know that the roms are still copyrighted, but since i have an AmigaONE 500 bought from acube-systems maybe someone can post me a working rom files (i flash it in 2x512 mode Bank 0 & Bank1 with a 27C4096 adaptor) or point me how can swap the bytes correctly?
thanks for help,
Cook

EDIT
I have noticed that the original rom files was write protected, thats why byte swapping hasn't worked, so i have correct files now, but i'm ran out of empty chips.. Any idea how can i quick erase them? :)

PS
i was able to do the update, thanks for all who helped..
Actually no one didn't answered... WOW!
For all newbies like me:
i can confirm, Rev 6A Board doesen't need SIL resistors, works great without them.
Regards,
Cook

Can we please confirm what gets connected where on a 6A mobo? Do I just bend the 3 Rom pins up so they DONT go to the socket and connect switch to them or do I connect them to socket AND to switch? Sorry if its blindingly obvious to other people!!
