OT: when u get a moment, which launcher are you using in your picture? Is it polynet?

Perhaps a silly question. These "just work" right? Plug it in and clockport is active and no driver us needed?
Indeed, You need to copy usbstack driver to Your system, if we are talking about USB, same is for Audio card -see last picture on first page!

I understand that the devices connected to the clockport may require software. What I was asking was if the clockport itself needed any software to enable it or if that is all taken care of by the hardware and nothing else needs to be installed.

It shouldn’t, no. At the end of the day, while it is called a clock port it is really nothing more than a few address locations and registers from the cpu bus exposes to expansions. That’s probably not a technicality correct xplanation but that’s the gist of it. So anything connected to the clock port pins just has access to the exposed addresses.

Not fully correct.

The driver of the respective hardware needs to support the alternative address of the clockport.

For example, the Melody Pro Soundcards will only work on an original A1200 clockport out of the box.

The Poseidon stack will work with the alternative address, however. So the RapidRoad will work with this.

I can't say for more cards such as the Delfina Flipper.

exactly! adapter itself doesn't need any software, turn off Your Amiga, plug in Your Clockport adapter and You are ready to go.

Ok, I'm a bit confused. Yes I know that's a common occurrence according to my wife :)

McTrinsic mentioned alternative clockport addresses. I thought that only applied to the boards that add additional clockport connections. This board gives the 500 / GBA1000 a clockport that is functionally identical to the ones built into the 1200 and 600 right? In theory anything that works on the default 1200 / 600 clockport should work on this. Just the regular drivers for boards are needed and not the stuff for the clockport splitters and such?

An additional question - will this also work on the 1000 (not GBA) as well? If so, on the front or side? Would it have to be on one of the adapters for the side port that provides the 1000 with standard Zorro II slots?

I'm over thinking this aren't I? :)

thats correct, this adapter works the same way just like a standard A1200 Clockport does.

Well, as about A1000:
Haven't tried to put it in front bay, to be honest - this place is reserved by Memory expansion, wich is more important with it's 256KB of fastram otherwise,
as about side slot - this adapter does not fit physically in it - You need to cut the case to plug it

Sorry bud, missed Your message...
using Poseidon v4.5 installer (for RapidRoad, and v4.4 for Subway), it has builtIn launcher - StackAttack it works out of the box,
Software on the picture is Trident - it's also a part of the Poseidon..

Have tested and packed paid units, played with it all day long, and i don't wanna miss it anymore!
EVERYTHING i plugged in - just works: USB keys, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, bluetooth, digital camera..
Wanna try printer and Audio card now..
it's perfect, it makes my Amiga very happy!!! :) wanna Clockport for my CDTV now!

Ok I didn't pay attention to the address of this specific adapter. Which by the way is a great unit.

If it gives the 'original' CP-address then almost all devices will work. I am only aware of the Melody Pro that checks in the driver for a PCMCIA port and if it doesn't find one won't work. But even that can be changed in the driver with a hex editor.

So go for it!

Won't work at the A1k front slot, though.

Great device!

Well, right, will not work in front bay (totally different pitch - 3.96mm) side only...
Since it doesn't fit physically - port extender is needed:

Can order a batch of them actually

Will this one work with HC533 (which is NOT working with any autoconfig A500 sideport expansions)?
