Yeah worth a try.
I found agnus was a bit tough to get out but maybe I was not applying enough force?
Just eased one corner, then the opposite (there are 2 little notches), took maybe half a dozen attempts but she just popped out :)

Had a bash last night got the Gary out powered on, black screeen, put it back. Tried getting the Agnus out and just got annoyed  , will have to have another go when feeling calmer but if anyone has got any tips for getting the git out they would be appreciated.

Preferred method: PLCC extraction tool.
Insert at both ends and keep gradually increasing the pressure until the chip pops out. You may find quite an amount of pressure is needed.

If you MUST extract it without the proper tool, you can use two flat-type thin-head screwdrivers, simultaneously used as opposing levers to carefully pull the chip up.
Or one such screwdriver and alternate between each end, but you must lift by small amounts to avoid stressing the socket.

How did you try to extract it?

This thread helped me with a rev 6 A500, showing a green screen at boot.

- Removed Gary, black screen -> Agnus OK
- Chip RAM then? Powered on and touched each chip. U17 very hot.
- Piggy-backed U17
- Power on, success!

Tomorrow night is soldering night. :ninja:
