A600 & 3-Way ROM Switcher

Hi to all

It's possible to install next ROM's at the Mikronik 3-Way ROM Switcher sockets and works in one A600?

One chip:

- Kickstart 1.2
- Kickstart 1.3

Two chips:

- Kickstart 3.1 from spare A1200

I don't think you can use the 3.1's from an A1200 in an A600.

Why not use 1.3 and 2.x Rom on the switch and then re-kick into 3.1 rom with the ACA630

You could even make a nice custom rom with the updated SCSI.device and such

Wel I have next ROM's

Single chip: 1.2, 1.3, 2.05 & 3.1

Two chips: 3.0 (A1200), 3.1 (A1200), 3.0 (A4000)

Reading specs the Mikronik 3-Way ROM switcher:

But my question is..... It's possible to work with 3 different real ROM's in A600?

1.2 & 1.3 to play very old games from the original floppys.... 3.1 to work with CWB Full or ADVSP.....

The ROMs from an A1200 are a matched pair and act as a single unit.
The A600 needs a different ROM chip which has the kickstart version on a single chip. Unfortunately theyre not transferable between the two systems.

Sorry to confuse you its part of the ACATune tool for your ACA630 you load any rom into memory and run that instead. You need to boot from at least 2.x Rom to use the feature so 1.x rom will just be for using your old floppy collection.

Is not a problem... for very old games (1.2 & 1.3) I think the best is to use the ROM switcher I bought.

The question must be asked why a person would want 1.2 and 1.3

Same for 2.0x and 3.1

The thing to do is have 1.3 and 3.1

This will cover all of your needs.

I don't remember exactly... sorry, lot of years....

In the old times I have one A500 1.2 with FastRAM, etc.... & lot of games.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember about some problems with very old games like Dungeon Master & Aladdin (maybe more) upgrading to 1.3 ROM. This is true?

I agree with matt020 100%.
Only with 1.3 and 3.1 and you're set for the 99% of the cases.

Apart from that, the fact that the Micronic gives you the opportunity of putting single AND double kickstarts doesn't actually mean that you can boot correctly an A600 machine with A1200's kickstart. (that due to some modules like exec, bootmenu etc, that are made for 020+ instead of 00). I also don't know if the scsi.device of A1200 is the same as the one of A600.
