Keyboard partly DIY version (complete excluding gateron switches) recieved and looks good😊
Keycaps ordered from Steveed today👌🏻
Not decided what switch version to use yet, but will post update picture when it is done (in the future).

I just got my keycaps from steveed and had a chance to fit them. Everything worked out except the spacebar key cap. Seems the outer mount points on the keyboard do not have enough spring to lift the space bar back up. The spacebar just gets stuck in the down position. Not sure if the wire bar beneath is supposed to have tension to spring the bar back up. Just gets stuck in the down position. Anyway, I found a solution that seems to work perfectly. I Just borrowed a couple of springs from a spare Vic-20 keyboard which fit perfectly over the outer mount points under the spacebar and works as I would expect. Keyboard looks fantastic and I can’t wait to get it installed. Let me know if I overlooked something with this spacebar installation :)

The switch itself should have enough spring to push the spacebar back up. You can check that the space bar is pushed down firmly on each of the three mount points if it does not come back up, but it definitely should. If it still does not take a look at the wire you can see going into the stabilisers with the space bar removed, does it look like it is entering the middle of the stabiliser at a 90 degree angle? Do the stabilisers move up and down OK if you carefully lift either side with tweezers or needle nose pliers? does the keyswitch look straight? What do the stabilisers look like from the front when the space bar is mounted, do they go straight up and down? If all that looks OK it should free up with use, but if it does not I would suspect the wire is not clicked into the stabiliser quite right. It can be fixed but can be an annoying and tricky process with a very fine flathead screwdriver...

yeah I had the same question/issue with space (and I think also enter/r-shift) not going up but like Aeberbach said above it was an issue of inserting the keys firmly and at the correct angle - after this alignment keys no longer stay down and work as expected.

I will just take the opportunity to state that this keyboard + steveed keycaps is truly an awesome combination and makes using the A1200 way more enjoyable!

I also have this problem. Those with solutions please post. Its an awesome keyboard other than the spacebar issue. The 0 key on mine in the number key pad also has this issue. I found if you dont press it all the way on it will work mostly, but the problem comes back as you type. A stronger spring and maybe some graphite key switch lube would help? I also think with use it will start working better. I have some luck with it as I use it feeling a bit better too.

2 x Complete A1200 keyboard to suit A1200.net case: US$125

I'm interested in 2 of them for the replica cases.

Declaring interest.
On the off chance that you’re still making these @Aeberbach, I’d be keen to buy an A1200 one from you, and probably the A1200.net one. But here’s my specific situation: do you, or anyone here, know if these would fit within one of the new A500 cases from A1200.net? I’m hoping on using this keyboard with a Keyrah, inside a replica A500 case to use with my daily driver PC for work.

It should physically fit in the case and work with a keyrah for a 1200 but not with a real 500.
Problem is, he isn't making any more of them but released the files so you can make it yourself
or someone else can make up a batch.
Maybe steveed will order some PCBs so you can put one together yourself.

A few VIC 20 spring works perfectly. You can find spare ones on eBay. I just purchased 15 extra springs that I do not plan on using. I can drop a few in the mail if you live in the USA. Just message me directly.

I also had this problem with the Spacebar key. In my keyboard one of the black plastic Spacebar stabalisers wasn't completely straight so wasn't aligning correctly with the key thus causing it to stay pressed down. As suggested the best option is to use springs.

I used a standard Amiga keyboard spring over the stabaliser to solve the issue though the Spacebar key now works it doesn't feel quite right as it takes a bit more force to press.

For those that have a 3D printer and want to maybe have better luck with the space bar I found reprinting the frame helped me. I did all the plastic over again in black ASA-GF (ASA or ABS with glass fiber). I used 50% infill as well. Its very stiff and solid now. The bonus was the section the metal support bars go is also better aligned with my reprinting of it all. I dont know if its just the way I printed it and I got lucky or if ASA/ABS may be better for this over the PLA it came with, but its working great now. Since Aeberbach is no longer making these I have reposted his repo below along with the filament I recommend below.

ASA Filament I used: https://amzn.to/3ExJqo6
Filament that should work well if you cant print ABS or ASA : PETG-GF: https://amzn.to/3WS9RLq
