Hmm i think this is into Merlin/CF/Zetr0 territory.

I suppose the concern is whether all the a600 mobo components have the heat tolerances to cope with a sustained level of heat in an oven.

@Tomse: I take that you have to have some sound playing on the background to verify this?

No just a set of speakers connected to the audio ports.

I have a similar problem on one of my defective A1200 boards, no right mouse reaction, but I do hear clicks in the speakers (or one of them, I don't remember precisely) when right clicking.. to me it sounds like a short that happens when clicking. and I too replaced Paula. I haven't had any time to dig any deeper for this problem.. but I will find / fix it at one time.

Thought I'd test the RMB from the keyboard. The menus appear, when I press Amiga + Right-Alt even though they don't appear, when I press the right mouse button. What does that tell me?

Also, if the button is pressed, would there be something going on on one of the interrupt lines IPL0 to 2?

That the software side of things is ok... no hardware info though. A + right ALT is just a keypress sequence that's trapped and interpreted by the OS as a RMB or menu event. It bears no relationship to an actual RMB press.

As an event itself, it doesn't give rise to any hardware interrupt, so no.
But under context, maybe yes, e.g. pressing the right mouse button brings up some menu items which have been (very quickly) pasted by the blitter, and when the blitter finishes a copy it does generate a hardware interrupt (seen on IPL0-2 on Paula/68000).

Well, if changing small components doesn't help, you change bigger components. I changed the whole motherboard and now I got a working right mouse button. :p

I've not given up on the other motherboard. When I can find time I'll start investigating. In the meantime, I enjoy a working A600. :)

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but it might be useful.
I've just repaired an Amiga 4000 for someone who had the same problem (RMB always pressed, so early start-up appears with just LMB, and Workbench not reading RMB at all).
The fault was a capacitor, but not one of the usual suspects - it was C412, a 0.047uF polyester(?) capacitor. It was discoloured on one end where it had leaked or something. Once I'd replaced that, the 4000 worked perfectly again.

On the 600 it'd be in the same place, between GND and POT_0Y (pin 36) of Paula. On my machine it had a resistance of just 80Ohms, so the line was held low permanently.

Hope that helps someone with similar problems!
