processer In a ACA 1220...

processer In a ACA 1220...

Guys I have a question. The processer that I removed was the low cost MC68020RP16E and I'm gonna fit a MC68020RC33E. But I have notice that the cheaper version (That I removed) has more pins than the other one that I bought (Look at the pics) Does it matter or have I wasted me spon dolicks (Money) on the MC68020RC33E (I had to destroy the MC68020RP16E, so I could get it out) Or should I say that. Does this board only work with the cheap processer or will it work with the nice (gold) processer....

All PGA 68020's are 114-pin.
But I guess suitable standardized PGA sockets for them are 124-pin ones, with the layout as shown on the 3rd photo.
So nothing to worry about I think, just some unused spots.

If you fit a socket you probably won't be able to close the trapdoor so bare that in mind.

Ok Steve Maybe I should cut a square hole out then I could close the trapdoor eh??

Hey Guys I got a email from Jens and he said that although he's never tried a 68030 on a 68020 firmware. It might work. But the 68030 won't work with burst mode and it will have poor memory performance, because only DSACKx access termination is used (Whatever that means), so I'll just fit a MC68020RC25E instead (That should give me a speed boost eh??)

Guys. Does anyone know off hand what the jumpers are to run a 68020 at 33MHz, as the silkscreen only shows up to 26MHz (For the 68020), or would the 68030 33Mhz setting work..
