I do like your proactive preventative measures approach, Bas.
Hand on heart, I had no idea those infamous components were about to go 'south' - I thought the machine had already had the PSU caps serviced and replaced a couple of years back... is it possible they could have deteriorated that quickly or do you recognise these as being original 1980s vintage parts?
Whatever, full marks, fella - I'm indebted to you for being this helpful and naturally add the costs to my repair invoice.
Chuffed to bits you spotted that old chestnut... would've been just my luck to get the fixed memory problem resolved, returned back to base, then the whole Acorn goes up in smoke like some autumn bonfire!
I have enclosed some pictures of the finished machine hooked up to an IDE Interface Externally for testing purposes so you can see the 2 work well together.
In anticipation of your IDE Order, your Model B is now to HotROD Spec with 64K ROM support and 32K Sideways RAM.
The new ROM also contains the Advanced ROM manager and Acorn ADFS for the IDE Interface and ADFS floppy drive support.
I have also soldered in a power cable for the IDE Interface to make it easier for you to fit in the future.
