Wasnt sure if i should jam this in general chat or here. Finaly decided to throw it in here..
any way i spent about 2 hours last night configuring my bt home hub v1.0 to be a wierless repeater (used it before at the old house and worked just fine)
so i was stumped as t why it wouldnt work here..
after tweaking and re tweaking then re setting, and tweaking again it finaly dawned on me that the talktalk router "Huawei HG523a" is not WDS compatable/enabled
So it was never going to work. "i knew i set the home hub up right the 1st time"
so now i need reccomendations on an adsl router that has WDS and isnt very expensive but is going to be stable and configurable..
I had a look for custom firmware for the huawei, but there really arent any. i do have a router at the old house that would work, but as my wife does not comprehend what i am telling her she says im not allowed to swap the talktalk router for the belkin thats at the house..
this is all an issue for me as i have old school xboxes upstairs, which i had intended to use as media centers for the 2 bedrooms.
without the WDS function on the talk talk router however i cant configure it properly so i cant stream media to them upstairs..
It should go..
ADSL Line----> Talk talk router--> Wierless to BT home hub--> Wired ethernet to the xboxes from bt home hub.
(and the pc's can connect wierlessly to either router depending on the signal strength)
as i said i know i can configure my network like that as i have done it before. but i will need to replace the talk talk router with a WDS capable router.
all the configuration data needed to configure the new router is simple enough so im not worried about that. Just need to know of a decent low priced stable wierless router with WDS (preferably with atleast 1 ethernet port so i can connect the 360 to it downstairs)
