Damn them, damn them to ****

Who oh why have we still got a backlog!!!!

I'm still waiting for items sent in November and December!!!!

These people need a good hard kick up the backside

I had a Special Delivery item sent Tuesday and its not here yet, thats supposed to be Next Day Gauranteed

Wonder why I shelled out £14 for express delivery, may as well have taken the el cheapo option...

Rant over - for now

i got an item ordered on the 28th december delivered on the 4th January, so i can't fault them, i guess it's regional?

Yeah I'd say so, mines cr@p at the best of times.

Of course I'm not suggesting anyone avoid them, etc, etc, etc - I'm just venting my personal frustration with their service. :coffee:

I'm *still* waiting on stuff from the UK from early December. On the plus side, something shipped November 28th via air mail just got here....

I'm in the same boat waiting for something from amigakit.

Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

For the last week it reports preparing shipment.

Just as long as they don't lose it, I guess I'm ok.

later,
dabone

Well i generally get no mail all week. My postie seems to collect all my mail and then deliver everything on a saturday. I must end up with about 20 letters on saturday mornings usually. I do live up some steps off the main road so i think he just looks and says no.
Oh and it gets better, my current post man asked me last week if i would like him to sign for my recorded items if i'm not in and leave them outside....

There's nowt wrong with Royal Fail for delivering bills and letters but when it comes to packages, it's a courier all the way for me.

I guess the Royal Mail still use the old sail cutter ship instead of air mail because my package is marked as been in transit from GB to Canada since a week and a half now.

I got my external floppy that I bought from Australia in 5 days...

I have lost so much stuff this past while through Royal Mail. Christmas presents for friends or even just mundane things for myself. Royal Mail just are not as good as they used to be. Have not lost anything I bought through Amibay yet though, touch wood!

@ Geraldine

They didn't earn the nicknames 'ParcelFarce' and 'Royal Fail' overnight, did they?

The same goes for 'DH Hell', 'OOps' and 'Sh:censored:y Link'.... these names were hard earned, and they should wear them with pride..... or maybe not...

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Still no sign of my large parcels, all the small stuff is arriving though...

Asked that ebay seller about the CD32 but it turns out he didn't semd it Special Deliver like advertised it went First Class Recorded

I know First Class can be 2-3 days, but with my Postie, if its too big for the letter box that translates to 3 weeks :(

No CD32 fun for Fitzie this weekend :sigh:

Good job your A4000 didnt go back to you via royal mail,;).
I was suprised it ever reached us when you sent it, as the box was open, :(.

Ready to get a kicking lOL

Ready to get a kicking lOL

Well Im probably biased as I have worked for Royal mail for 25 years and I can safely say that in that time I have never ever seen so many packets as we handled this Xmas and I have never seen our lads go out in such terrible conditions.

The Saturday before Xmas I had a parcel due by Federal Express and it didnt arrive, I rang them to be told that due to the snow all their vans had been grounded and their customer care would close at midday??? Yet our vans and lads were out till 8pm trying to get parcels out to customers.

We have a universal service order which states we have to deliver to every address daily or we get fined, yet the opposition have no fines and no constraints which is very annoying.

All of our offices up north (scotland) were snow bound so as we went into xmas we not only had the xmas rush but a huge backlog to contend with and we were all out until late xmas eve trying to catch up and yes we failed which is awefull (Im not a postie anymore so took packets out in my own car as we had used all the vans on deliveries).

As for posting abroad - we have our own air fleet but our ability to control a route stops once it leaves the UK and you are the mercy of the foreign countries system. For instance an item can take 24hrs to get to Spain but then can take a week to be delivered by their system.

As for DHL etc etc - well they drop their mail off at our sorting centres and we sort them and deliver them - BUT they get the money and according to the government we can't complain?

Yes we struggle but in one day we sort and deliver more mail/packets than all of our competitors do in a year - work out the maths. When someone rings me and says - do you know where my letters etc is I look out of my office window on a shop floor that sorts 4 million items on a normal day so my answer to them is - sorry no idea. So you can see a percentage get lost and delayed but I assure you thats an exception.

Im a customer and hate waiting but if your item is delayed its not that we don't care - because we do and no one else would go the extra mile for a customer that pays for a 1st class stamp as our competition just want to make money and not give a service!

Oh as a service to any amibay users - if (God forbid) Royal Mail delays an item or it gets lost if you email me I might be able to help more than your normal customers chances.

Its who you know in this day and age that counts so please feel free to email me and I will try and help any fellow forum members the best I can.

Hey despot67,

Thanks for posting. (excuse the pun)

I'm not going to give you a kick-in lol, I know its not one indivisuals fault and there are genuine reasons for the delays.

I will say though its not just the weather, the last 6-9 months I have has seriously long delays on any large items, they just sit in the deport for up to 3 weeks and when I finally get them I'm told its due to backlogs.

Well I hope in 2011 they can sort some of these issues becuase other then the long delay in getting parcels I really don't have a bad word to say.

I've made an official complaint to the depot in writing, so hopefully they take my comments on board and don't just file it under B1N

Steve.

All well and good, but your telling me that everyone in the Royal Mail is perfect.

We have expensive parcels dumped downstairs outside out building, these parcels are supposed to be signed for. Yet the postie obviously forges the signiture and buggers off.
This happens on a regular basis, on the other side of the coin. One of our posties is a lady, very nice. She comes up to our unit and always gets the job done properly.

I do agree, that things can happen and things can go missing. However practices like I mentioned above are disgusting.

I think you will find that FedEx's insurance didnt cover their vans for the type of weather conditions.
Dont forget alot of these companies are now employing owner drivers.
Also have to say, never had a parcel damaged or go missing with FedEx.

Saying your struggling, is not a good thing to say.
So your saying Royal Mail cant cope and thats why so many items go missing / lost.

I agree about posting abroad.
Have to ask, who is responcable for the item if its lost in that situation. I would say Royal Mail as your trusting the foreign postal services to deliver your mail.

There are alot of Jobs were you have to brave the weather.
I used to work in a job, where come rain or shine, we had to deliver stuff.

Thanks Steve

If off line you email me your address I can then chase up what route your parcels take and ring up the Manager at the depot and will definately get some joy as for my sins I am the Quality manager for the Midlands. (You know sometimes even I hate using that title LOL)

There is no way parcels should sit in a depot as our regional centres (which I imagine it is one off) use a colour code system and the mail gets sorted in a particular order. So if a container that is say yellow is due to be sorted and sent out to a delivery centre on a Wednesday is missed then they have to report it as a failure. If this happens to many times then the Manager gets in real trouble and we as a business get fined.

there isn't one point you have raised that I don't agree with.

I too marvel that I can ring a company and then get a parcel delivered by say fed ex the next morning first thing even if I ordered it late afternoon the previous day - but then again they sort and handle a very small amount of packets compared to our system.

As for your delivery driver etc dropping items with no card - that is a sackable offence and needs dealing with. My offer of help stands and if this continues contact me offline and I will help as this kind of service we can do without. Its all donw to a lack of training on the Managers part. We have cards for delivery failures and they should always be used.

If you get an item dropped off outside and no signature asked for if you could email me a photocopy of the front of the item I can get it chased up for you.

When I mentioned we were struggling - well we were and who wasn't during the snow? Its not an admission that should harm the business as we advertise our failure rates publicly every six months as we have to by the governemnt charter so every man and his dog can see if we fail.

Even with our network the weather caught us unaware, we obviously plan for certain mail volumes but when the weather hit us with a huge backlog it affected us all. But we did clear it within a few days.

And I agree about us not having the monoply on bad weather affects LOL but in this day and age its all " claim this claim that" so no one takes chances anymore. I remember delivering over eight foot snow drifts in 87 only to get back to the office to get the news a work friend had collapsed and died int he snow - the paper boy found him on the path of a house covered by snow in the evening so yes it can get bad i agree.

I could'nt agree more, the UK sucks and is full of lazy good for nothing lets claim everything you can and sue whoever we can just cause we can people. Worst thing is, people that do this, bring up their kids thinking its ok, then inturn they bring up their kids the same. Never ending circle.

I had a meal out with my family today and on the other table I could hear this talking quite loudly about how he was going to throw his perfectly good laptop down the stairs because he wants a new updated one.

Man I must be getting old, you got me ranting like a gooden, lol.
