I hope I'm not going to be disappointed in this - I've just ordered it on the 360.

anyone else?

A metallic “clank” echoes above sending my nerves into hysterical overdrive. I freeze, too scared to gently push the analogue stick of my controller forward slightly just in case it makes a noise. Inside my head I’m screaming at my brain to offer up some sort of strategy to escape the impending doom lingering over me.

She’s out there somewhere… hunting me.
Another “clank”, louder this time, followed by a scuttling of unimaginable horror in the vent above. I’m telling myself to move but the sheer dread of being spotted holds me back. I’m not far from my target - a locker to hide in, with it’s bright green “unlocked” light teasing me over, despite false offerings of long-term safety. I strain my ears to search out the faintest of sounds but now I hear nothing. No clank, no scuttle, no scurry.
It’s now or never so I sprint across the room and into the locker. Once tucked inside, I gaze through the slits in front of me. It’s a lonely feeling with the silence my only companion now. I prepare myself for the hush to be pierced with the deathly hiss of the beast that is hunting me. But still nothing.
Then, out of nowhere, she creeps into view. Slowly, but with menace, the alien heads past my hiding spot. My racing heart beats in time to the slur of violins, whose morbid crescendo acts as a warning that I’m not long for this world. But then the alien turns and leaves, along with the now fading music. Knowing better than to breathe a sigh of relief, I start to plan my exit. “Out of the locker, turn left and then down…”
…but my thought process is suddenly interrupted with the horrific sight of the alien’s head pressed right up against the locker. “Press L2 to hold breath”, I am prompted. I try to react but my clumsy, shaking left middle finger slips. And that’s it. Game over, man. Game over.

How scary is it?

I played this at EGX in London and I have never felt so on edge playing a game since AVP on PC...

Have since played it on my 360 and I was impressed with how good it looks on last gen hardware, it stacks up well against 'next' gen too so you will not be disappointed!

I own it on my Xbone and there is a noticeable improvement but there is one constant...fear...!

Turn the lights down, turn the volume up and play on hard - no other experience even comes close.

(its not perfect but in terms of survival horror it is hands down intense as you can get)

I have on PC and the surround sound is awesome well worth a look my living room comes alive.

I'd like to get it since I'm an Alien Fan but unfortunately regardless of how good it might be I don't think it's my kind of game :/That always suxStill haven't opened my XBox one yet, but I have preordered Dragon Age 3 =)

I can not play this **** puts my nerves to much on edge 3 in the morning I can here all sorts in my living room I have gone to the door twice thinking some one is tapping on the door or window.

good news if you want to be EVEN more scared :D

Oculus Rift support was removed from the final game,,, BUT!! once the game was released Oculus examind the code of the game and found that even though disabled the Oculus code was still there and they switched it back on

OMG, imagine after Oculus DK2 a possible 1080p per eye or better with this game... :D

I REALLY want an Oculus but the Wife aint buying into my reasons why :D although she hasn't said a flat NO, just that I would look a bit stupid and "sad" wearing one :)

Been watching one of the Yogscast girls playing it:
5 episodes (17-18 mins each) in and she has only just got a Revolver !

Will have to wait and see how long the game really is ?

Okay so its arrived and i payed it for 2 hrs last night - lights off , volume up loud.

The first 10 mins are a story type affair as you would expect. Your ripleys daughter and are being sent to a space port to retrieve the nostromo flight recorder , blah blah blah.

okay fine , so lets get on... you arrive but you can't dock as the space station is seemingly damaged and without much power. The docking port (s) are damaged and you have to space walk (fly) over to the space station with 2 ship mates. (the space station looks like the nostromo)

and then well, hell brakes loose.

and so the game begins ...you are alone (at the moment) in the Sevastopol space station and barely alive....

So far the game audio is top notch , music and effects from the film. creepy music is almost always on and bangs and moving shadows are everywhere.

The graphics are pretty much top notch for a 360 and look good on the old hardware. The story is a bit of a drag - finding help and having to interact with people to contact your space ship parked up near by but the version i bought has the nostromo add on too ....your the last survivor on the nostromo - not tried that yet.

i'll do a full review after I've played it a while.
