Ok, I'm trying to figure out why this would be a bad idea, and this seems like the best place to suggest this. :)

I'm thinking about alternate power supplies for a1200's, 500's, etc., because everyone talks about how sketchy they can be, especially with expanded systems. So, why can't we take something like this, drop it in a very simple enclosure with a switch for the mains, and the output cable from an official power supply?

Yes, I know that we can just an AT/ATX power supply, but those are A) bigger, and B) just unpolished looking. Plus, if you buy a new one (to make sure you're not inheriting some problems), they're at least as expensive as the above-linked item.

Just wondering what I'm missing... :?

Ok, fine Zetr0. Looks like I missed a pretty sweet thread. I may very well go down that path.

Nice work, exactly what I was trying to accomplish.

Should have seen the pics... It was the sweetest thing ever that psu!

Wenn, seems most PSU available don't have the Ampere to power Amiga or CD32. Worst of all, Amiga connectors are not available, so you wouldn't abe able to connect a Amiga to the PSU without the power plug ;)

I for myself made a mini PSU into a 500 PSU case (it was dead, :( ) and i have to say it looks very cool, because there is no difference. I made NO further connectors not even CD32, couse that would destroy the look and make a cable lying around when not connected. :) The little (original) fan is not really that annoying, but, you can hear it. The PSU didn't warm up really just on the bottom side, I think thats OK. Also the fan can's gave out that much air due to the little case holes, but you can actually notice air coming out

I really searched my heart out to find some nice PSU, but I wasn't able to find a right one. The connector is not cheap so I have lost interest in that.
