most people say we suffer OCD.... I like to call it being PRO!

Thanks Phil for all the work that you are doing on my Amigas, can`t thank you enough for doing such an awesome job, it was really no problem about the composite but thank you for replacing it. My wife and I are now searching out a MSX2 for you ... might have found some places which sell working ones ... and ... looks like my father in law might have some MSX stuff still too so will see if what he has ... :D

Tested and working, nice one. Once this baby is retro-brighted, she will be rebuilt, given a full test out over a period of a few days, and then packaged up and sent back.

It's been over a month, but I finally finished retrobriting the case of the 1200. Keith and I were experimenting, and I used my 600 to get the mixture right but it turned out my UV bulb was the wrong frequency so it was taking days in the solution to get any sort of result.
That said, I only did the 1200 top and the keys, as the yellowing was quite mild, and these were the only bits that needed it.
The pale blush of yellow at the rear of the case is gone, and the keyboard looks close to new and is sparkly clean.
Both systems have sat here this evening and have had a variety of demos and games run through them over the course of the last few hours, and they both work absolutely fine.
I have also cleaned the floppy heads and all edge connectors with isopropal alcohol and done the same with any removable chips.
I'm going to find a suitable box to package both the systems in and I'll let you know when they are ready to go back to your dad's so we can arrange a courier at your convenience.

absolute great job, i think ive also found a very easy way to remove the smd's safely without damaging tracks or surrounding equipment. im currently testing 2 different approaches and will take pics if everything goes ok.

Just read this entire thread, lovely work there Phil, you should be very proud of yourself.

Very nice work!

I've got a set of caps from Cosmos and a new Paula from Merlin waiting to be swapped on my A600. Just need to borrow an SMD rework station and be brave enough to get the job done.

Is there a capacitor swap table for A600 available anywhere?

This thread really just inspired me to muster up my courage and have a go at one of my A4000 motherboards. Currently it has all kind of spikes in the video signal and distorted sound - I would bet a god'n'ol recap will help it out.. Good job Phil, just pro work really.:thumbsup:and an extra:thumbsup:
