thats good news shame the idiot who ripped me a few years ago got away with it, although he did reappear on WOS with more or less the same name
until i pointed it out to them that he is not to be trusted, with a little help from a certain person from here and who was over at WOS as well

That's the international case that I referred to above. It's been reported to Action Fraud in the UK and will most likely be passed through Interpol to local law enforcement to deal with, but in the bigger scheme of things, it's not high priority.

WOS, not Was Not Was...

I know its not high priority and I chalked it up to me being an idiot by sending money via paypal as a gift but at least I warned a few over at WorldOfSpectrum about him and his ways
anyway you live and learn and I learned never to send money as a gift to anyone anymore (except family).

That is good news, Great work Amibay we have somebody keeping this an honest trading site.

Glad to hear that some of these scammers are caught. So far I got ripped off twice on Amibay, sadly, so nowadays I am quite picky with whom I am making deals.

We do our best to track scammers down, but some 'smash and grab' raids leave very little evidence to work with. I would dearly love to be able to nail people like Snowfreak and Amstrad/Superman, however, we can only gather whatever evidence we can and present it to the authorities. ' Merlock Holmes' isn't infallible, unfortunately, despite the skills of him and his team of detectives.

Your approach nowadays is what we recommend for everyone on here. If you don't trust someone, don't trade with them and most important of all, don't pay by gift or bank transfer.

Nice to see someone had a better luck than me Steve! I still can't digest the 'deal' that went wrong with Philophus a few years ago.

I allways wondered if there were any scams here before. I was a bit worried on my first sale no one knew me sk the buyer (baz) was allways informed on how the things sre comming along. I had to resolder some simms sockets and that took a few weeks. Never the less i also used my own company name here in portugal to be as transparent as possible and identify who i really am. But the rest of the users wear fake nicks and can rip anyone off... Gladly that didnt happened to.me.yet :)

We won't pretend that scams don't happen on here, as that's not the reality. What we try to do is inform the members as to how to handle trades to minimise the risks and to report things that don't seen 'quite right', so that the anti-scammer squad on here can check into them.

Thread necro alert lol, just got another tenner back from Gareth Quilt, at this rate I'll be paid off by 2036 :D

Hope everyone else got something back...
