We are exploring the possibility of creating themed site "skins". This would allow members to select which they wish to use the site with.

Our idea is to create Manufacturer/Platform specific skins.. f.ex. we could have an Atari one with the Amibay logo featuring the Atari logo and other Atari related graphics, plus the site's icons could be Atari themed.

We don't currently have time to create graphics for these ideas ourselves, so we would like to ask if any members want to to help us by joining this project to create some themed/graphics for Amibay?

Initially the main element to design will be an Amibay banner logo the same size as our main one above, but themed specifically for a platform or manufacturer.

If you would like to help please let me know.

note: Any graphics created for this project will be a part of, and owned by Amibay, but the authors will be credited for their work.

Although I'm not an artist, but I found this one a nice idea. I hope that you'll keep the current skin in the future, as it's light enough.

The main Amibay skin will remain as the default. Members will be able to select themed skins as an option.

I could help with themed logos and customized icons. And what about polishing the current logo (redesigning it)?

Cheers,
Oge

Please feel free to play around and see what you can come up with. We are always open to new ideas and designs for our main logo, as well as for themed ones.

This is in response to the comments made about fonts recently. It may be possible to use some retro fonts with the new skins, although I know zilch about VBulletin skins.

Is it possible to list all the images and max/min dimensions permissible? i.e.

Logo 398x147 > ???x???
Reply button?
html body background??

You can make the main logos wider if you wished. So no exact fixed dimensions for the banner. For the buttons just try to keep them the same size as the existing default ones (although they are actually all customised slightly for the colour scheme we use), so obtaining the dimensions from the ones on the site is the best way.

Another idea could be to introduce custom mouse pointers for each skin, so an ST one for Atari, Workbench one for Commodore etc.

Basically anything to make them a bit fun.

Another idea is banner rotation. We could have animated logos as they do on Pouet and Pleasuredome, based on games from each platform, but with Amibay in the graphics.

Just a mention to those submitting work, please make them themed or inspired by graphics and do not directly use company logo's or trademarks - thanks.

Hi Harrison,

Will any theme be submitted, as long as it covered something relevant? For example, there isn't a Tandy computer thread but there is a Sinclair 'market' thread so would a Sinclair/Spectrum theme be considered?

Thanks man! I was worried that it was too close to the sinclair logo (re: the diagonal coloured bands), hence the deafening silence!

I made spectrum rubber keys in powerpoint using the 3D format and found the closest font I could to the original, before putting it over a sinclairish background in paintshoppro. Doing a lot of graphical stuff at work and with more coming up, so it's good practise and spectrums are kind of close to my heart as my first computer was a +2.

Could my "coming soon" website banner be of any use? Needs a goodish browser (heavy html5 involved). Yes, I was learning HTML5 at the time, so it is very o.t.t. :)

Don't worry. no logging done on my server
(also, wait for miner willy to walk left to right - about half way across perhaps....)

That's nice, Chinners; it reminds me of so many cracktros of the '90s...:)
